REVIEW OF RELATED LITARATURE
Blood typing is a test that will tell a person’s blood type. The test is very essential
to people who wants to donate blood or to people who needs blood transfusion. The
blood type of a person is determined on what kind of antigens is in his or her red blood
cells. This antigen are substances that protects your body from foreign and differentiate
them from your own cells. Not all blood types are compatible to each other and a wrong
transfusion of blood might trigger a dangerous immune response.
According to UCSFBenioffChildrens.org (2010), that there are 2 types of blood
typing; the ABO typing and the back typing. Blood typing refers to a blood test that
determines your blood type by mixing antibodies against type A and B blood, and the
person’s blood type will be determined whether or not the blood cells stick together or
agglutinate. The second type is back typing where the liquid part of a person’s blood
without cells is mixed with blood that can be either be type A or type B. Person that have
type A blood have anti-b antibodies while people with blood type of B have anti-A
antibodies. Type O blood contains both antibodies. With that, blood types can be
determined.
