About Siva’s Book of 112 Meditations
Siva’s book is comprehensive and it comes with a guarantee: that anyone and everyone can find a suitable
meditation in its pages.

The commentaries herein are designed to explore some aspects of Siva’s sutras and to help the student use this
book as a practical guide to meditation.

The ‘Radiant One’ Siva addresses throughout is his consort, Parvati, who asks the questions which begin the
text:

“Oh Shiva, what is your reality?


What is this wonder-filled universe?
What constitutes seed?
Who centres the universal wheel?
What is this life beyond form pervading forms?
How may we enter it fully, above space and time, names and descriptions?
Let my doubts be cleared!”

Vigyan Bhairav Tantra was first published over 5,000 years ago.

Most of the meditations can be done in 15 to 20 minutes sessions, in the beginning, using a suitable timer,
while some are dynamic and take just moments.

The First

“Radiant one, this experience may


dawn between two breaths.

After breath comes in,


and just before going out,
the beneficence.” ”

When the breath is all in it stops for a moment; so

can the mind.
“When eating or drinking,
become the taste of the food or drink,
and be filled.”

Ordinary moments can become significant with a subtle shift of consciousness, if you
bring your full attention to whatever you are doing.

“While listening to stringed instruments,


hear their composite central sound;
thus omnipresence.” 14
In a comfortable posture, with no distractions, listen to music, and let it take you.

at this moment
let mind,

knowing,

breath and form be
