Class 6 1.25 MPa (12.5 ke/er’) NOTEThe above pipes are recommended for water temperatures rating from +1 19 445%. The eeeeerne dea maximum zafe working stress for those 45°C the strength of the pipe reduses and the ‘voruing pressure shall be modified in accordance with fig. Occasional rise In temperature a8 in summer s a season with concurrent corresponding reduction. in temperature during nights has no deleterious 2 on the life/working pressure of the popes considering the total lfe of pipes 6. COMPOSITION 6.1 The material from which the pipe is produced shall consist substantially of unplasticized polyviny2 chloride to which may be added only those additives that are , Agaded to fac Mate the manufacture of The pipe and the production of sound and durable pipe of good surface finish, mecharical strength and opacity under conditions of use. None of these additives shall be used separately or together in ‘Guantities sufficient to constitute a toxic, organoleptic or microbial growth hazard, or materially to impair the fabrication of welding properties of the pipe, or to impair its ‘chemical and physical or ‘Fechanical properties (in particular Tong-term mechanical strength and impact strength) as defined in this Indian Standard. The additives to be used shall be selected from 1S 19148 and shall be uniformly dispersed, 61.4 The monomer content (VCM content) in the resin shall be within the limits specified in 3.3.1 of IS 10151, when tested as per Annex A of IS 10151 6.1.2 The composition shall be based on PVC resin having 2 K-value of 64 or greater when tested in accordance with (5 4869 Sa aaa NOTE-A test report of conformity certificate may be obtained from the in manufacturer for the \VCM cofitent (see 6.1.1) and K-value[see 6.1.2) of the resin being used, unless the same Is tested in an independent laboratory. The frequency ofthis test report or conformity certificate shill be nes jn svety ee SIS 6.2 The additional of the manufactures own rework material is permissible, The quantity of the rework material used isto be dectared by the manufacturer. No other rework material shal be used. 6.3 Conformity of pipes to this standard is tested by carrying out the tests specified in this stancard, Pipes meeting the requirements of these tests are deemed to meet the requirements of the stanciard GOR EC)EUT ——e TEHPERATURE Ce . DIMENSIONS 7.1 Dimensions of Pipes 7.1.4 Diemeters ‘The mean outside diameter, outside diameter at any point and their tolerances shall be as given in Table 1. This shall be measured according to the method given in 'S 12235 (Part 1) 7.1.1.1 Mean outside diameters ‘The permissible variation (deq-d,) between the mean outside diameter (d.,) and the nominal outside diameter (d,) of a pipe shall be positive in the form +x, where x's less than or equal to the greater of the following two values: 2)0.5 mm, and ') 0.003 d, rounded off to the next higher 0.1mm, 7.1.1.2 Diameter at any paint ‘The permissible variation between the outside diameter at any point (de) and the nominal clameter (e of pibe (also called tolerance on ovalty) shall not exceed the greater ofthe following two values a} 0.5mm, and : b) 0.022 d, rounded off to the next higher 0.1mm 7.4.2 Wall Thickness “The wall thickness of plain pipe (both for solvent cementing and elastomeric sealing ring joints) and the plain portion of socket ended pipe shall be as given in Table 1. ‘The above wall thickness shall be measured by any of the three methods given in 2.4.1 and 2.1.2 of IS 432235 (art 3) To check the conformity of the wall thickness of the pipe at eny point along is leneth This shall be done by cutting the pipe at any point along its length and measuring the wall thickness as Zhove. Alternatively, to avoid destruction of the pipe, non-destructive testing methods such as the use 50imm + 0.22 dr and ti) For nominal diameters 0,280 mm m>70mm +0.15 da th maximum inner dismeter of groove in combination with the inner eiameter of the sealing ng 278 the average outer diameter of the pipe shall @ thatthe joint conforms to the required pressure rating as given in Table 7, 8, SEALING RINGS ‘Face shall be in accordance with one of the types (Type 2 to Type 6) as pet IS $382. The manufacturer hes to however specify the type of sealing ing (namely 2, 2, 3,4, 5 or) that is being offered. The design Of the profile of the seating ring is left to the manufacturer as long as the pipe with the sealing cng meets the requirements of the specification.
