Sooner or later, the journey through ends for each of us. It is easy to see why this must be so.
Without death, nature’s creative work would have been brought to an end. Death is one concrete example
that we have no control over the things that are happening around us. We will never know when our last
breath would be. But, if there was possibility that you could manipulate your own death, would you do it?
In today’s society, one of the biggest controversies and talked-about issues is euthanasia. Euthanasia is the
intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit. It may be
the most humane method of killing and it is a type of assisted suicide that requires the license of state to
permit it. For instance, in the Netherlands, their attitude towards life and death is far more civilized. They
have “euthanasia clinics” where a person can end their life with peace and dignity. Since their own country
denies them any right to do so, the legality of this doing is causing many individuals to travel to Netherlands
in order to take there own lives in a calm and peaceful manner. Euthanasia ends extreme pain and suffering,
it gives dignity to a dying person and it is a cost-effective way method.

Euthanasia ends extreme pain and suffering. One of the advantages of euthanasia is for those who
are in great pain. Nearly, unbearable pain can be eliminated with the treatment of euthanasia. A person
should not be forced in staying alive and as this process is done, relief is provided on sick people with
terminal diseases like cancer. Therefore, patients with incurable diseases and ailments would rather die
instead of living for the rest of their lives in pain and suffering. Euthanasia puts an end to a petient’s
suffering. In the Netherlands, doctors are allowed to kill their patients at their request. As well as Belgium,
that grant of procedure for people with mental illness is also given. Euthanasia is still possible if the person
agrees with the specified conditions in a written document.

It gives dignity to a dying person. It is the right of the person to live and die the way he or she
desires. When people are given the freedom of choice, then they could decide whether to end their life or
not. Imagine if a person has a disease and he or she knew that there would be no cure. The agony of the
thought of enduring the pain for the rest of their lives, kills you mentally. Furthermore, there are thousands
who expressed a desire to die and a person could feel that it is unfair when his or her decision is denied.
With this decision, it is a more humane act of killing. Others may call it “compassion argument” and
supporters of this process believe that to die with dignity is kinder than forcing them to continue their lives
while experiencing pain. Everyone has the right to relief pain and moreover this process is done in such a
way the person or animal will not feel any pain at all.

In today’s world, the cost of medical attention and health insurance has increased to the point that
it may cause a significant amount of strain to a family and to the patient who is terminally ill. Euthanasia
may provide a cost-effective way of dealing with people. It will undoubtedly influence doctors and policy
makers to look at euthanasia as a means of cost containment. For instance, in Oregon, where assisted suicide
is legal, health care provisions will front up with the money for a much cheaper alternative, assisted suicide.

Euthanasia has received contentious views and debates from critics over the years. Regardless of
whether or not a personis in favor of, or against it, all people would agree that they would want a justified
and dignified death for themselves and their loved ones. Euthanasia is not wrong. However, it is the person’s
decision to make a choice of how they want to die. This decision must be well-thought and personal right
to privacy and to life and death on his or her own terms. May it be dying naturally, maintaing life artificially
or speeding up the inevitable process.
