he is a member of a class of British nationality largely granted under limited
circumstances to people connected with Ireland or British India born before 1949.

How did Zanzibar become a British Protectorate?

The British Empire gradually took over the territory; the relationship was formalized by the
1890 Heligoland-Zanzibar Treaty,
 This treaty made Zanzibar and Pemba a British protectorate (not colony), and the Caprivi
Strip (in what is now Namibia) part of German South West Africa. British rule through a
sultan (vizier) remained largely unchanged.
 Furthermore, the British rule was made more evident because of the end of Anglo-Zanzibar
War wherein the new appointed Sultan Hamoud’s interests coincide with the British
Government. He was declared the new ruler and peace was restored once more.
Among any other countries to migrate to, why the United Kingdom?
Since their country was considered a British Protectorate, they legally acquired British passports to flee
from Zanzibar and moved to Feltham, Middle Sex.
