TEAM LEADER Brief

 You are …………………………, the Customer Services Team

Leader. ………………………… is your Agent.

 She/he is a really good worker (when they’re there!).

 Unfortunately he/she has just had her 8th day of sickness this
year. As you are aware, the company requires you to chat
more formally to an individual who goes over 7 days in a rolling
12 months.

 You have given informal feedback to them on previous

occasions, in the corner of the office. There didn’t appear to
be any pattern to the reasons – not feeling very well and
migraines seem to feature, although he/she’s not the most
talkative of individuals.

 After a further period of absence, you have invited him/her to a

Back to Work interview to discuss the issue further.
Poor Sickness Absence Record
AGENT Brief

 You are …………………………, the Customer Service Agent.

………………………… is your boss, the Customer Services Team
Leader.

 You live at home with your mother. She has a long-term illness
for which she needs home help during the day, when you are
at work.

 Keeping down a full time job and looking after a sick relative
has been very challenging. You feel stressed a lot of the time,
and constantly tired. You try not to let it interfere with your
work.

 This year, home help has been occasionally unreliable –

sometimes never turning up. This has meant you phoning into
work. You’ve normally stated that you’re not feeling well, which
is true, although you have to admit (to yourself) that you would
have gone into work if you had cover for your mother. You
don’t feel that this has happened that often though.

 You are reluctant to talk about your mother’s situation at work.

 You have just had another couple of days off, because of the
lack of cover.

 Your boss has invited you to attend a Back to Work interview to

discuss your attendance.
