Sub: Capacity enhancement of SRU-C under J-18 for SRU stand by capacity at JR
At JR, presently there are two SRU units of capacity 2X35 MTPD and 2X300 MTPD >
commissioned in 1998 and 2010 respectively.
* Difference in sulphur production post BS-VI (As per FR & DFR) - 90 MTPD.
* Total sulphur production post J-18 as per FR (FR is based on FR of BS-VI) — 627
MTPD.
* Total sulphur production post J-18 considering difference in FR and DFR is 717
(627+90) MTPD.
Considering 95% capacity utilization of the units in normal operation, the total available
‘SRU capacity with SRU-C under J-18 and one train standby is 570 (285+285) MTPD.
Additional capacity required is 147 MTPD.
JR has asked for additional capacity of 225 MTPD. However, with oxy rich provision in
SRU-IlI Train AJB and restarting of SRU-II, this additional SRU requirement can be
avoided if already considered SRU-C under J-18 capacity is revised to 400 MTPD.
Detailed Sulphur balance of JR is attached as Annexure-1
The issue was also discussed in PRM dated 22-23 Oct '18 where it was advised by
chair to avoid another new unit by building extra capacity in new SRU-C under J-18.
Hence, SRU-C under J-18 to be designed for a capacity of 400 MTPD instead of 300
MTPD as considered in FR.
