Landscape Character. Briefly describethe major featuresand elementsin the landscape.Refer to
illustrations4,5,6, and 7 of the BLM Handbook l-843 l-l for guidelineson the terminology to be
usedto describethe elements.
Narrative. Briefly describethe general character of the landscapeas it relates to the immediate
surroundingsand to similar landscapefeatureswithin the physiographicprovince.
Scores. Rate the scenicquality usingthe criteria and guidelinesin the BLM Handbook 1-8410-l
SectionII. Recordthe scoresby circlingthe appropriatenumbers. If the rating more appropriately
fallsbetweenthe listednumbers,write in the desirednumberandcircleit. For example,if the desired
numberfor “color” falls between3 and 5, write in the number4 and circle it. Explain any unusual
factors affectinga rating under the “explanation and rationale” column. If more spaceis needed,
