Chapter 5 – Complex Sentences

The ‫ ﻣﺒﺘﺪأ‬is the initiation of an idea. It is there to create curiosity. The ‫ ﺧﺒ‬tells us what you want
to tell us about the ‫ﻣﺒﺘﺪأ‬.

If someone says, “Recitation of the Qur’an……”

We know that the ‫ ﺧﺒ‬will tell us something about the recitation of the Qur’an.

“Recitation of the Qur’an is beautiful.”

If someone says, “The teacher…”, we are expecting a ‫ﺧﺒ‬.

He then adds, “The teacher, he…”. Did we get any information yet? No, it is still ambiguous.

Finally, he says “The teacher, he is late.”. Now we have the complete thought.

So this is an example of 2 ‫ﻣﺒﺘﺪأ‬

Ex. ‫ أْوﻻِءَك ُﻫْﻢ‬---> we do not have any information about ‫ أوﻻءك‬yet. ‫ ُﻫﻢ‬does not inform us anything
about ‫أوﻻءك‬.

َ ُ ُْ ْ ُ
‫ﺤْﻮن‬ ‫أوﻻءك ﻫﻢ اﻟﻤﻔِﻠ‬, now we have a complete thought.
