Azad was a fearless revolutionary and a great
freedom fighter. He was born on 23rd July 1906 in
Bhavra village in the present-day Alirajpur district of
Madhya Pradesh, India. His original name was
Chandrashekhar Tiwari. Azad recognized the
Hindustan Republican Association under its new
name of the Hindustan Socialist Republican
Association(HSRA). He engaged in a heroic battle
against the British and his role was crucial in inspiring
others of his generation to participate in the national
movement of freedom.

Chandrashekhar Azad Family:


Chandrashekhar's mother's name was Jagrani Devi Tiwari and his father's name
was Sitaram Tiwari. His mother Jagrani Devi Tiwari was the third wife of Sitaram Tiwari.
Chandrashekhar Azad had one brother his brother's name was Sukhdev. His father
Sitaram Tiwari worked in the government forest office as a watchman. His father Sitaram
Tiwari Uttar Pradesh Unnao District. Were living in the village of Badarka near Kanpur.
But they serve famine due to the onset with the help of their relatives Alirajpur state had
settled into the village Bhavra.

Sanskrit scholar and persuaded his father to send him to Kashi Vidyapeeth Banaras to
study. He was a great worshipper of Lord Hanuman. Once he disguised himself as a
priest in a Hanuman temple to escape from the clutches of the British police. He learned
archery from the tribal Bhils which was helpful during the arms struggle against
Britishers.

Azad Joined In Non-Cooperation Movement:


Chandrashekhar Azad was deeply struggled by the Jalianwala Bagh massacre in
Amritsar in1919. In December 1921, Chandrashekhar Azad at the age of 15, joined the
Non-cooperation movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi. Young Chandrashekhar

Azad attracted by the non-violence, non-cooperation movement of 1920-21 under the
leadership of Mohandas Karam Chand Gandhi. He joined the movement and was
arrested and produced before the magistrate. he gave his name as "Azad"(free), his
father's name as "Swatantra"(Independence) and his residence as "Prison". This
provoked the magistrate who sentenced him to fifteen lashes. From that day he came to
be known as "Azad" among people.

Chandrashekhar Azad Involved In HRA(Hindustan Republican Association):


After the suspension of the non-cooperation movement in 1922 by Gandhi,
Azad became more aggressive. Then he met a revolutionary Ram Prasad Bismil who had
formed the Hindustan Republican Association(HRA). Bismil was impressed by Azad and
Azad was impressed with the aim of HRA. When he reportedly put his hand over a lamp
and did not remove it till his skin burnt. Chandrashekhar Azad became an active member
of the Hindustan Republican Association and Revolutionary organization, most of the
fund collection was through robberies of government property.

Kakori Train Robbery:


Chandrashekhar Azad Life History in this Kakori train robbery was the one the
most important part. Azad was involved in the Kakori train robbery of 1925, in the
attempt to blow up the viceroy's train in 1926, and the shooting of J.P. Saunder at Lahore
in 1928 to avenge the killing of Lala Lajpat Rai. Azad became a symbol of India's freedom
struggle after his daring Kakori train Dacoity in 1925.

Bomb In The Central Assembly:


Successful leadership of Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, and RK Dutt on
April 8th, 1929 the Delhi bomb exploded in the Central Assembly. Bhagat Singh chose
the movement carefully and threw the first bomb away from the member and the hall
plunged into darkness and everybody was shocked. The second bomb was thrown by RK
Dutt.

Azad Relation With The Simon Commission:

running the sticks at the police Lala G. Sanders decided to give the death sentence.
Azad later with Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Raiguru and Bhagwati Charan Vohra
transform the HRA into HSRA, so as to achieve their primary aim of an Independent India
based on socialist. Now his name in the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association and
Army was designated. Chandrashekhar was the commander of the new team.
