 According to Amihan (2017), Republic Act No. 10173 also known as Data Privacy Act
was passed on year 2012 and it was signed by the former President Benigno S. Aquino III which
it emphasized the protection of individuals from unauthorized processing of personal information
that is private and not publicly available. Based from the statistics, there is rapid growth of
digital economy as well as an increasing international trade of data worldwide. Therefore, the
Philippines, as one of those countries who have a large number of internet and social media users
implemented a rules and regulations that strengthened its privacy and security protections.
In today's generation, we need something that will protect our personal information.
Relying on government to protect our privacy is a good decision for me. In a rapid growth of
social media or technology our privacy was affecting that results to hacking and worse is using
that information against us. If I were to be asked I will surely trust government to protect my
privacy.
