ILITPYOBARB
Probability is the
measure of the
likelihood of an
event to happen.
2.
TMENEERXPI
Experiment is anything that is
repeatedly do where results may
vary even conditions are similar.
Examples:
a. tossing a coin
b. rolling a die

MALSEP
ESCAP
Sample Space is the set of all
possible outcomes in an
experiment.
Examples:
a. S= { H, T}
b. S={ 1,2,3,4,5,6}
4.

NETEV
Event is any subset of a sample
space.
Examples:
a. getting a head when tossing a
coin E={H}
b. getting an even number when
rolling a die E={2,4,6}
5.

SEALMP
INPTO
Sample Point is an
outcome of an experiment.
Examples:
a. H,T
b. 1,2,3,4,5,6
Probability is a measure or
estimation of how likely it is an
event will occur.
Activities such as tossing of
flipping a coin or picking a card
from a standard deck of cards
without looking which could be
repeated over and over again
and which have well-defined
results are called experiments.
The results are called
outcomes.
The set of all possible
outcomes of an experiment is
the sample space or
probability space, and each
individual outcome is a
sample point.
Experiment Sample Space Sample
Point
Flipping a coin H, T H
Rolling a die 1,2,3,4,5,6 5
Rolling a coin H1,H2,H3,H4,H5,H6, T3
and a die T1,T2,T3,T4,T5,T6
simultaneously
Probabilty of Events
The probability of an event, P (event), is the
number from 0 to 1 which tells how likely
the event is to happen.
Probability Rules
1. The probability of any event is a number
(either a fraction, a decimal, or a percent)
from 0 to 1.
2. If an event will never happen, then its
probability is 0.
3. If an event is sure to happen, then the
probability is 1.
4. The sum of probabilities of all outcomes
in the sample space is 1.
