Sungai Buloh, Sat. – A 65 year old woman and her 33 year old son were burnt to
death when their house at Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh here caught fire at 6.50 a.m
yesterday.
The dead were Chan Lee Lee and her son Tan Sim Yoon, who is believed to be
mentally retarded. Another occupant in the house Lim Lung Han, 53, managed to escape
unhurt.
Kuala Kangsar OCPD Supt. Hamzah Samsuddin said initial investigations showed
that Tan might have set the house on fire after pouring petrol in his bedroom but was
trapped.
Supt. Hamzah added that although the firemen could only put out the fire at about
7.30 a.m , the semi-concrete house was razed to the ground.
He said the neighbours were unable to save the mother and son.
