CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

This research will analyzes the benefits of knowing the business and

work place etiquettes to the performance of the students of Accountancy and

Business Management (ABM) to their future business workplace or in work

immersion and having the proper behavior of being an entrepreneur or

businessman. This research about business etiquette and workplace

etiquette will distinguish the difference of the two and how important to

have a combination of workplace and business etiquette of an individual.

Background of the Study

“Ethics is a subject of social science that is related with moral

principles and social values. 'Business Ethics' can be termed as a study of

proper business policies and practices regarding potentially controversial

issues, such as corporate governance, insider trading, bribery,

discrimination, corporate social responsibility, and fiduciary responsibilities.”

(Tutorialpoints, 2018)

This research will show the importance of studying business and work

place etiquette to improve the communication and working skills and testing

how Grade 11 Accountancy and Business Management understand the business

and workplace ettiquetes. Business Etiquette is the set of rules by which you
conduct business. Essentially, it is a common language, a standard code of

behavior, which when adopted, becomes standard practice in a community,

enabling that community to function smoothly, without as many bumps or

misunderstandings. In business interactions, this facilitates a professional

standard of conduct that each business has in common with the other

businesses. (Francis, 2018)

This paradigm framework shows the flow of this research. The first box

contains the input of the study which is the Students perception about

Business and work place Etiquettes. The next box is the process which is in

form of survey questionnaire. And the last box is the potential outcome of

this research which is its importance.

Scope and Limitation

The focus of this research is to determine the importance of learning

and understanding Business and Work place Etiquette of the Grade 11 ABM

Student.There are two section of Grade 11 ABM in HHIS the Grade 11-ABM-A

and Grade 11-ABM-B. The total population of Grade 11 ABM is 60 students,

by using Slovin's formula the researchers get a 52 students as sample to

represent the whole population and 26 students per section.

Statement of the problem

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the understanding on Business and

Work Place Etiquettes of Grade 11 ABM Students in HHIS. The researcher

have come up with the question to be answered in this research endeavor.


1. What principles of Business Ethics and examples of Work Place are known

to Grade 11 ABM Students?

2. What is the mean result of Grade 11-ABM-A and Grade 11-ABM-B on their

perception on business and work place etiquettes?

3. Is there a significant difference between the perceptions of Grade 11-ABM-

A and Grade 11-ABM-B on business etiquettes and work place etiquettes.

Definition of terms

Business ethics - Business ethics is the set of moral rules that govern

how businesses operate, how business decisions are made and how people

are treated.

Workplace Etiquettes- Workplace etiquette means the socially

acceptable ways that we interact with one another and behave in our

workplace.

Business Etiquettes- Business etiquette is about building relationships

between other people. The ought behave of a business owner towards

his/her investors, employees and staffs.
