OVERVIEW OF THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HYPERTENSION


IN PATIENTS AT MAKASAR SUBDISTRICT PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

Non-communicable diseases or NCD have high mortality rate in developing


countries and it becomes one of the health problems that must be considered. The
changes in modern lifestyle factors such as lack of physical activity, uncontrolled
levels of stress, and lack of awareness of health, become one of many causes for
NCD. An example from NCD is hypertension. Hypertension is an increased blood
pressure exceeds 140 mmHg systolic and 90 mmHg diastolic.
Based on these facts, a study was conducted with aimed to find out the level
of knowledge about hypertension in patients of Makasar Subdistrict Primary Health
Care, East Jakarta. This research used a descriptive design with cross sectional
approach. The sampling methode in this study was concecutive sampling.
From this research, it can be concluded that 97.8% patients have a good
knowledge level (>55%) about hypertension in Makasar Subdistrict Primary
Health Care period of August 2018.
