One of the most serious and controversial issues that the world face today is environmental protection.

Pollution
has become such a threat that until today we still search for solutions to combat this problem.

In the past decade, activated carbon has been our go to when it comes to mitigating our impacts to the
environment. It is also predominantly used in different industries such as healthcare, mining, water filtration, air
purification and so much more. However, with its current properties, AC can only do so much.

But we do not just accept these limitations! Through research and development, we were able to delve into the
smallest of things to engineer carbon and exceed its limits.

Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you the NEWER, BETTER, AND GREENER activated carbon.

NCD or nanocarbon dots are a new class of carbon based nanomaterials which possess a significantly greater
amount of surface area. Its smaller size allows it to trap smaller pollutants and its increased surface area permits
higher adsorption capacity, thus providing better pollution control performance with lesser amount used.

NCD is produced through environmentally-friendly methods such as the hydrothermal carbonization process which
converts biomass into nanocarbons.

Cassava, being a good source and mainly constituted of starch is planted each year in approximately 120,000
hectares of agricultural land in the Philippines and which produces about 1.8 million tons of cassava roots. Such
abundance make it a viable source for the production of NCDs.

Having better properties, NCDs can competitively participate in the demand for AC.

Two years ago, the global demand for activated carbon was 1.2 million metric tons. As of today, the demand is 1.9
million and is projected to continually grow to 2.7 million in two years time.

The Philippines competes in this large industrial arena by exporting continually growing amount of AC which covers
approximately 6.5 percent of the annual global demand.

With the introduction of NCD to the global market, we not only boost our country’s economy, we also help achieve
a cleaner environment.

Economic growth and environmental protection do not need to come at each other’s expense.

Let us work for a richer and greener Philippines.
