Verbs like “give, lend, offer, pay, promise, refuse, send, show”, etc, can be followed by two objects, the indirect (person) and the direct
(thing) objects.

F.i. They gave John (I.O.) a warm welcome (D.O.)

2 passive transformations:

1. More frequent: John was given a warm welcome

2. Less frequent: A warm welcome was given TO John

VERB + PARTICLE
Verbs like “listen to, ask for, think of, send for, etc” must keep the particle next to the verb when turning active into passive.
F.i. We’ve listened to this CD hundreds of times ---------------------------------------→ This CD has been listened to hundreds of times
She thinks highly of the new worker-------------------------------------------------→ The new worker is highly thought of
We will send for you when the boss arrives ---------------------------------------→ You’ll be sent for when the boss arrives
