PROBLEM SITUATION: Sixth grade students in Chapter 1, have read and discussed many events
that happened before and during the Civil War and the Reconstruction

Task: Present a Chain of events that explain these events and evaluate their relevance, or
importance today.
STEPS:
1. Organize in teams of 3 members.
2. Based on the activity card, read and study the events and the cause and effects that happened
before and during the Civil War of the United States on your activity card.
3. Then works together to create a time line on a cardboard in order to represent with a sequence all
the events that happened in that time.
4. Practice reading the time line aloud. As a group, choose the best examples that show its importance
today. Decide how each group member will participate in the presentation.
5. Present to the class the explanation of the cause and effects that happened before and during the
Civil War of the United States and your reasons why are still important today.
