XY BITS F110 (ENGINEERING GRAPHICS)
MODEL QUESTION PAPER
Duration: 75 Minutes Max Marks: 40
Keep saving your AutoCAD file at frequent interval, file name XY***1 (*** denotes last 3 digits of your IDNo.)
NAME: IDNO:
NOTE:
 COLOR CODE: Drawing outlines to be followed compulsorily: (Linetype: CONTINUOUS for all)
 Center lines → BLUE  Construction lines → CYAN  Hidden lines → RED  Hatching → GREEN
 Prepare your standard work file with  PDMODE: 3  PDSIZE: 0.125
 Unless otherwise specified, use. 1grid spacing = 25 mm.
 Label all the figures properly.  CW → Clock Wise,  CCW → Counter Clock Wise
 Follow the angle of projection specified for each problem.
 projection specified for each problem.

Q.1 The point A of a line AB is in both HP and VP. The point A is on the left side of the observer. The point B of the
line lies in the 1st quadrant at 150mm above HP and 100mm in front of VP. The front view length is 200mm.
Calculate the top view length, true length, apparent angles and true angles drawing the projections.
i) Take one grid space equals to 25mm.
ii) Do not erase the construction / projection lines
iii) Write the final outputs in DTEXT form (lengths in mm and angles in degree) [10]

Q.2. A right pentagonal pyramid of base 75 mm and height 187.5 mm, rests on its base on ground with one of its base
edge perpendicular to VP. A section plane perpendicular to the VP and inclined at 30 degrees (measured
anticlockwise) to the ground cuts the pyramid, bisecting its axis. Draw the sectional top view and develop the lateral
surfaces of the truncated pyramid. The pyramid should be opened starting from 'd' as shown in figure. [3 rd Angle]

Q3: A right regular hexagonal pyramid with edge of base 125 mm and height 250 mm is resting on its base on
ground with one of its base edges parallel to VP. It is interpenetrated by a right regular triangular prism, with a base
edge 125 mm and penetrating symmetrically both sides of the pyramid and 250 mm long. The axes of the two solids
are mutually perpendicular but non-intersecting. The axis of the prism is 37.5 mm towards the left of the axis of
pyramid and is perpendicular to VP. One of the rectangular faces of triangular prism is parallel to HP and its opposite
edge is on the ground. Draw the intersection of solids.
Retain the solids after intersection. [Third angle]
i. Draw the projections of the two intersecting solids in TV and FV only.
ii. Draw the interpenetration profile in the FV and the TV after locating the key points.
iii. Trim the lines which have lost their identities due to interpenetration (assuming the interpenetrated solid
merges with the base solid after interpenetration) in the FV and TV. [15]
