To whom it may concern,

It is my pleasure to write this letter of reference for Alyssa Latimer, whom I met in
November of 2019 for her practicum. Her placement was at Simons Valley School in
Calgary, Alberta. I was the co-teacher in the grade one classroom where she did her
first practicum.

Ms. Latimer taught grade one science, math and morning message. The classroom
consisted of 35 grade one students with a wide range of abilities and challenges. Alyssa
handled herself well when teaching and was always open to all suggestions. Alyssa was
always willing to take time to work one-on-one with struggling students. She took on
small groups during Daily 5 and was able to pull appropriate resources to work with
those students.

When teaching, Alyssa learned effective classroom management. She used the cues
“hands on top” and would wait until students were ready to learn. She was able to
maintain students' interests through the use of engaging lessons and an exciting
teaching style. Alyssa was eager to dive right into any teaching opportunity and was
always prepared for the day ahead of her.

Alyssa demonstrated a strong work ethic and handled herself in a professional manner.
She always came well dressed and prepared for her lessons. Alyssa was always
positive and enthusiastic about her work. She developed a great rapport with the
students. During attendance she consistently greeted students and had a kind word for
each one.

I believe Alyssa will make a wonderful teacher, no matter the grade.
