A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near your community. Discuss
the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence in your community. Do you support or
oppose the factory? Explain your position.

It is always beneficial for the economy when new factories open for the wellbeing of the
community; however, it’s not always mention how can they be also discouraging for some
people.

First, it is well-known that a new factory is going to require new employees, and this is a
source of employment for people. Hiring new people is always good for those who are seeking
a new job in the area. For example, if the new factory is going to produce food, it’s going to
provide training for those interested in the job and also gives the opportunity to apply for new
manager positions as well.

Secondly, a new business gives to the community new products in the market, hence more
variety to choose. This is by far a good quality since it gives the chance to people to have more
flourish and new goods that are provided for their well-being.

The downside of building new companies is that, as it is well-known they bring a lot of
pollution to the area. Moreover, they get rid of waste in a way that brings more garbage to the
area. For this main reason, people do not want to live near a factory, due to the way they
manage the wastes (harmful way).

Another downfall is traffic. Living near a factory is always complicated, since it’s full of people
all the time and this creates a lot of traffic and difficulties for people that don’t work there to
commute to their jobs or homes.

Last but not least is the fact that new enterprises are very noisy, and this is something that
influences people’s lives. Due to the fact that they make a lot of noise because of the large
equipment they handle, living near these places can be harmful to the community.

To conclude, pollution, traffic and noise make the opening of a new business very hard to
handle and for these main reasons they are no good for the community.
