Our Algebra 2 project assigned us to create a Parabola using equations and different processes.

We were meant to use any parabola lessons we learned throughout the year to create a concaving

line. Originally we used a football that we previously worked with using an image. My group

was assigned to use sports so we chose football. I was first felt pretty confident when assigned

this project because I understood how to work parabolas. My goal was to create an accurate

representation of a parabola in a real-life situation, such as football.

My group wanted to find any sport that to create an understandable problem for any

Algebra 2 student. Then we wanted to first identify realistic measures of football Then I had the

idea to input all these methods to create one parabola that can be solved.

Throughout this project, I learned different methods of parabola solving. For example, I

only knew 2 methods of parabola solving, when there’s 4. I learned that I try to keep all things in

control and I tend to focus more on the creative aspect of projects. I really enjoyed creating the

graph. I think that’s what I excelled as well. I would improve on my understanding of other

people’s versions of parabola solving. Next time I would practice more on presenting the project.

But overall I felt proud of my group’s work.

I investigated the world by doing research on parabolas and equations. This experience

supported our vision because it was necessary to know what needed to be removed from the

equation and better allowed us to recognize methods to create the parabola and solve the

equation. I recognized and weighed perspectives as I shared the solving methods with my team,

we all share our ideas to create our process. I know it matters in today’s society because

communication is very important to help understand each other and our ideas.
