Worldwide Environmental Education for Sustainable Development

We are committed to environmental education and consider it as the core vehicle for the
transformation of current development models. We require educational actions that profoundly
modify our values, forging agents of change with skills and abilities to achieve a sustainable
lifestyle.

About Us

We are a group of civil society organizations driving an initiative called “Worldwide Environmental
Education” with the objective to mitigate the climate crisis through environmental education for
sustainable development.

Our purpose:

Ensure all students worldwide have access to environmental education for sustainable
development.

Strategies

1. Develop a Global Agreement for Environmental Education (GAEE) with the objective for
all countries to incorporate environmental education for sustainable development into
their regulatory framework with lasting changes difficult to reverse (Top-Down approach).

2. Implement environmental education for sustainable development at all education spaces

worldwide, formal and informal, as a strategy to reach sustainability in 2030 (Bottom- up
approach).

3. Articulate strategic alliances with key actors to influence, implement and transform
environmental education for sustainable development.

Mexican Milestone

In 2019, México incorporated mandatory environmental education in the Constitution at all

educations levels including the secondary laws to consolidate the foundation for a successful
implementation.
