Cutting – a piece of the stem

or root of the source plant is placed in

a suitale medium such as moist soi. If the
conditions are suitable, the plant piece will begin
to grow as a new plant independent of tha parent,
a process known as “striking”. A Stem Cutting
produces new roots, and a root cutting produces new
stems.

Grafting - is a technique that vegetatively joins two

plants into one. Instead of cross-pollinating two plants and
producing hybrid seed, grafted plants use the roots and the
bottom portion of one plant (rockstack) and attach it to a
tender shoot (scion) from the top portion of one plant.

Stolon growth -

a creeping horizontal plant stem

or runner that takes root at points
along its length to form new plants.

Layering is a means of plant

propagation in which a portion of an
above-ground stem grows roots while still
attached to the parent plant and then detaches
as an independent plant. Layering has evolved as a
common means of vegetative propagation of numerous
species in natural environments.

Lemon trees and mango trees are example

of a plant that can be propagated
vegetatively.
