The Authorization Manager guides you through the authorization process of your software. When launching the
Authorization Manager, a Welcome page will appear.
Anytime you need help with the page you are in, click on the ‘?’ (Help) button in the bottom-left part of
the Authorization Manager window. The ‘i’ button will give you information about the current version of the
Authorization Manager and links to the IK Multimedia website, our FAQ pages, and Customer Support.
After clicking on NEXT, the Authorization Manager will check your Internet connection and determine if you can
proceed with the online or the offline authorization procedure. Let’s have a look at the ONLINE procedure first.
If an update is needed, close the Authorization Manager first. Next, download, install, and open the latest
version.
In the next step, you may log into your IK account or create a new IK account. Use your IK Username to log in.
Enter your IK USER NAME and PASSWORD to log in. Select “Remember me” to remain logged in for future
authorizations (recommended on personal computers).
Choose NEW USER if you do NOT have an IK account.
Fill all the requested fields then click REGISTER. The username you input is the username you will use to log
into Authorization Manager and the IK Multimedia website.
After clicking on NEXT, we will send you an email. Check your email account and click on the link included in
that email in order to activate your IK User Account and to continue with the Authorization process. The IK User
Account lets you access the IK User Area.
After clicking on NEXT you will be able to proceed to the Serial Number insertion page (see next section 3.3
- Inserting Serial Number). If you don’t remember your login details just click on the FORGOT PASSWORD?
button. The FORGOT PASSWORD? button will take you to the Password reset page of the IK Multimedia
website. You can insert your email here to request a new password.
The email address that you insert must be the same registered in your IK User Area.
If you registered an email address that is no longer valid and you want to update it, just contact IK Customer
Support at:
www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support
Type the Serial Number in the fields manually or by clicking on the PASTE button.
Once the Serial Number has been properly inserted, a green circle will appear showing that the code has been
entered correctly. If a red circle is displayed, the Serial Number inserted is not correct and you will be asked to
retype it.
After inserting a valid Serial Number, a 2nd entry field will appear. This allows you to insert multiple serial
numbers at once. If you are only registering a single serial number, ignore the 2nd field and click NEXT.
The LOGOUT button lets you return to the “New/Registered User selection” page (see figure 3.2.1).
After inserting all your serial numbers, press NEXT to go to the next step of the authorization procedure.
SampleTank 4 is now registered! This page shows all the products you authorized in this current session.
Click on the VIEW button to go to the My Products section of the IK User Area. Here you can download the
SampleTank 4 installer and the Sound Content Installers. You may continue to Chapter 5 for Software and
Sound Content Installation.
The software serial numbers are located on the registration card (in USB/Boxed product) or via email (digital
delivery). You can insert multiple serial numbers in one session. If you already registered these serial numbers,
they will always be located in the My Products section of the User Area.
To authorize your product or other sound libraries with a computer that is not connected to Internet, follow these
steps:
1. Save the authorization request file (Authorization Request.html) on the computer that is not connected to the
Internet.
2. Copy the file to a computer that is connected to the Internet while keeping the Authorization Manager open
on the first computer.
3. Double-click the ‘Authorization Request.html’ file on the computer that is connected to the Internet. It will
open your browser.
4. Follow the instructions on your browser. The last step will ask you to save a second file (Authorization.xml)
on the computer that is connected to the Internet.
5. Copy the ‘Authorization.xml’ file to the computer that is not connected to the Internet.
6. Load the ‘Authorization.xml’ file in the Authorization Manager on the computer that is not connected to the
Internet to authorize your software.
The first page will create the authorization request file (Authorization Request.html) on the computer that is not
connected to the Internet.
Click the SAVE AUTHORIZATION FILE button to create the ‘Authorization Request.html’ file. Choose carefully
where to save the file (the Desktop will be fine) because you will have to transfer it to the computer that is
connected to the Internet in the next step. You can copy this file to the online computer via USB drive or
External drive.
Click the “NEXT” button after saving the ‘Authorization Request.html’ file to get to the next step. This next page
provides further instructions on copying the ‘Authorization Request.html’ file.
Copy the ‘Authorization Request.html’ file to the computer that is connected to the internet. Double-click on it
and follow instructions. This will open your default internet browser.
Do NOT close the Authorization Manager as you will have to return to this page after completing all the steps
on the computer that is connected to the Internet.
figure 4.3 - Copy the ‘Authorization Request.html’ file to a computer that is connected to the Internet
After double-clicking the ‘Authorization Request.html’ file, your browser will open to show the following page.
If not already logged in, you will be prompted to log into your IK account. Log in using your IK username and
password. Once finished, you will be redirected to the Offline Authorization Process.
In this page, insert your SampleTank 4 serial number into the field shown. Click on “Add Serial” to submit. You
will see the confirmation under “Serial Number(s) added”. You may insert any other serial numbers if you wish to
authorize several serial numbers. Click on “Continue” to process this.
Here it will also let you know if your serial number is not inserted correctly (see chapter 7 – Troubleshooting for
more help).
Once the serial number is processed, you will be taken to the next screen to be prompted to download the
‘Authorization.xml’ file.
Click on the DOWNLOAD button to save the ‘Authorization.xml’ file to this computer. You may copy this file over
to your USB or External drive. Proceed to copy the ‘Authorization.xml’ file to the computer that is not connected
to the Internet.
Return to the Authorization Manage page you left open on the offline computer and click NEXT. The following
page will appear:
Click the LOAD AUTHORIZATION FILE button to load the ‘Authorization.xml’ file you transferred from the
computer that is connected to the Internet.
Please note that the ‘Authorization.xml’ file is different from the one you created by clicking on the SAVE
AUTHORIZATION FILE button (Authorization Request.html).
After loading the ‘Authorization.xml’ file click on the NEXT button to proceed to the final page (see figure 3.3.3 –
Authorization completion).

Like all installers, they will download as DMG (macOS) or ZIP (Windows) files. These must be mounted or
extracted first.
Once your sound library is installed, SampleTank will rebuild the library. It is important that you allow SampleTank
4 to complete this process.
Based on your Operating System, enter the “Install macOS” or “Install Windows” folder and run the installer
located there. Upon completion of the install, enter the “Sound Content” folder.
Here you will find a SampleTank 4 folder with the installer inside. For SampleTank 4 MAX USBs, you will find an
additional “SampleTank 3” folder. Inside these folders are the Sound Content Installers.
On the USB version only, all instruments and sample content are contained in this installer. Since it is installing
the complete library for SampleTank 4, please allow some time for the installation process.
NOTE: Here you may also set a custom install path. See Chapter 6 – Custom Installation for help.
First, using a Finder or Explorer window, create the directory on your other drive, for example:
Run the Instruments Installer and click “continue”, then “agree”. The page here named “Installation Location”
shows you the current Sound Content install path. Click on “Browse” to select a new destination. A Finder/
Explorer window will appear. Select the folder you created, like in the example above.
Once selected, the destination path will display your custom install path. Click “Continue” to proceed, then
Upon completion, this custom directory will be recognized by SampleTank. You can also manually set where
SampleTank looks for your Sound Content by going to the SampleTank 4 Settings > Sound Content.
Now that this directory is established with instruments installed, you may now start downloading and installing
the Sample Content Installers. The Sample Content installers will default to this custom directory.

Suggestions
• If possible, please copy and paste the serial number
• Delete any spaces
• Please type all codes in UPPERCASE during the installation and registration process
• Check that the Serial Number that you are entering is in correlation with the product installed
If the Library shows a DOWNLOAD icon, this means the library is authorized but not installed. Clicking on the
download icon will redirect you to the My Products section of the IK User Area to download that content. If you
did install that content, make sure you have it set correctly in the SampleTank 4 Sound Content Settings page.
