How To: ISSN Reflection

This project showed students’ ability to use iMovie and the quality of video they are able to

produce. I was very excited to start this project since I knew I wanted to teach others how to ice

skate. My goal was to make ice skating look fun and easy so everyone would want to try it out.

Although I knew what I wanted to focus my video on ice skating, it was still a requirement to

think of three video ideas. In the end, I still chose ice skating. Then I had to decide who I would

use as my demo. I didn’t want to actually come out in the video so I used my little cousin who

was just learning how to skate. She was a great example to show the skating methods I was

teaching were actually working. Finally I had to decide the tone of the video. I chose to make the

video fun-spirited since I wanted to push people to try out the sport.

I learned that it takes time to edit a video. It’s not something you can wait for the last minute,

because there is also a wait time when having to upload a video. Since it is a big file, it can at

least take 5 minutes to upload. I wish I had to used more people in my video to show various

examples of people trying out skating. I’m overall glad of how the video came out because

people seemed to enjoy it and it received an A.

I recognized and weighed perspectives by taking in my teacher’s critiques and using them to

better the video. Because of this I was able to make the video more interesting and fun. I also
communicated ideas with fellow ice skaters by learning of the different methods they used when

learning to skate. This allowed me to create an accurate how to video on how to skate.
