In addition to ginseng, the following plants of the Araliaceae family, viz., Eleutherococcus senticosus Max., Aralia manshurica Rupr. et Max., Aralia cordata Thunb., Aralia
schmidtii Pojark., Echinopanax elatum Nakai, Acantopanax sessili orum Rupr. et Max., Kalopanax septemlobum (Thunb.) Koidz have been studied (8- 18). Two plants belong to
the Compositae family, viz. Raponticum carthamoides (Wild.) Iljin (19, 20) and Carlina biebersteinnii Be h. (21,22). Special mention is to be made of Rhodiola rosea L. of the
Crassulaceae and Shizandra chinens (Turcz.) Bail. of the Shizandraceae family (2 26).
