The main problem of the engine’s fuel pump was the spring which is a major component

responsible for supplying the right amount of fuel at the right pressure and time to the engine. The
spring was stuck on its compressed state since the last time it was used. It was also impossible to alter
its position since the diesel engine was coupled to the dynamometer of the apparatus from then. The
mechanic disassembled the fuel pump and thoroughly cleaned the parts. For the spring, the mechanic
first removed the sediments and rust which caused it to get stuck. Then, the spring was calibrated by
restoring it to its actual working length. Lastly, the fuel pump was reassembled and got attached to the
fuel line for testing.
