Biodiversity is the variability among living organisms from

all sources, including terrestrial, marine, and other

aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they
are part; this includes diversity within species, between
species, and of ecosystems.
Biodiversity forms the foundation of the vast array
of ecosystem services that critically contribute to
human well-being.
Biodiversity is important in human-managed as well as natural
ecosystems.
Decisions humans make that influence biodiversity affect the
well-being of themselves and others.

WHAT IS BIODERSITY?
CLIMATE CHANGE
URBANIZATION
HABITAT
FRAGMENTATION
HUMAN OVER
POPULATION
Preserving habitats is essential to preserving biodiversity
Migratory species are particularly vulnerable to habitat
destruction because they tend to inhabit more than one natural
habitat. This creates the need to not only preserve the two
habitats for migratory species, but also their migratory route.
Altering a natural habitat even slightly can result in a domino
effect that harms the entire ecosystem.
Climate is sometimes mistaken for weather. But climate is different from
weather because it is measured over a long period of time, whereas
weather can change from day to day, or from year to year. The climate of
an area includes seasonal temperature and rainfall averages, and wind
patterns. Different places have different climates. A desert, for
example, is referred to as an arid climate because little water falls, as
rain or snow, during the year. Other types of climate include tropical
climates, which are hot and humid, and temperate climates, which have
warm summers and cooler winters.

Climate change is the long-term alteration of temperature and typical

weather patterns in a place. Climate change could refer to a particular
location or the planet as a whole. Climate change may cause weather
patterns to be less predictable.

Urbanization, the process by which large numbers of people become

permanently concentrated in relatively small areas, forming cities.
Urbanization describes both growing cities and population shifts away from
rural living. Urbanization is closely linked to modernization,
industrialization, and the sociological process of rationalization.
Urbanization can describe a specific condition at a set time, i.e. the
proportion of total population or area in cities or towns, or the term
can describe the increase of this proportion over time.
So the term urbanization can represent the level of urban development
relative to overall population, or it can represent the rate at which the
urban proportion is increasing.
Urbanization is not merely a modern phenomenon, but a rapid and historic
transformation of human social roots on a global scale, whereby
predominantly rural culture is being rapidly replaced by predominantly
urban culture.
Overpopulation is an undesirable condition where the number of existing
human population exceeds the carrying capacity of Earth. Overpopulation
is caused by number of factors. Reduced mortality rate, better medical
facilities, depletion of precious resources are few of the causes which
results in overpopulation. It is possible for a sparsely populated area
to become densely populated if it is not able to sustain life.
