BIOSOCIAL APPROACH ILLUSTRATION

The illustration explains that when you are born as a biological male or female, there is a social
labelling and different treatment that you may encounter when you interact with others depending on your
sex with biological factors. Like for example when a boy cried over a toy, an adult will think of it as
anger but when a girl cried it shows fear. This approach differ depending how an adult was perceived.

INSIGHTS ABOUT BIOSOCIAL APPROACH TO GENDER

This theory describes that social labelling and different treatment of boys and girls interact with
biological factors to steer development. Money and Ehrhardt argued that the primary determiner of
gender development is the sex of rearing, which is initially determined by biological factors. The child
will be socialized based on this sex and their gender will develop based on how they are raised.
A child should be raise consistently base on its biological sex to avoid confusion because if a
child is mistreated, he/she might acquire it at a young age.
