Coping Up with Depression

Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects

how you feel, the way you think and how you act (R. Parekh, 2007). Fortunately, it
is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and a loss of interest in
activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems
and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.

This devastating and destructive state has a negative impact on the

individual. It drains energy, evaporates optimism and enthusiasm, and paralyzes
hope. It distorts the world and substantially reduces the pleasure of living. It may
lead to repetitive suicidal thoughts that can end in self-destruction.

People suffer from depression for many reasons. They become depressed
when all they do seems to become a failure. They get worried about their inability
to realize their plans. They get shelled in loneliness. They get nervous and easily
irritated. They find their lives unstable and hopeless. They lack safety and become
vulnerable to outside influences. Depression is a hazardous state, especially when
you allow it to invade your body and mind. As soon as you realize that something
is wrong with your state of mind, turn to help without hesitation.

According to Mayo Clinic from the article Depression (major depressive

disorder) (2018), there is no sure way to prevent depression. However, there are
strategies may help. One, take steps to control stress, this will help to increase
your resilience and boost your self-esteem. In order to overcome depression, you
have to do things that relax and energize you. This includes following a healthy
lifestyle, learning how to better manage stress, setting limits on what you’re able
to do, and scheduling fun activities into your day.

Two, reach out to family and friends, especially in times of crisis, to help
caught your attention to something. Getting support plays an essential role in
overcoming depression. On your own, it can be difficult to maintain a healthy
perspective and sustain the effort required to beat depression. At the same time,
the very nature of depression makes it difficult to reach out for help. Staying
connected to other people and taking part in social activities will make a world of
difference in your mood and outlook. Reaching out is not a sign of weakness and
it won’t mean you’re a burden to others. Your loved one’s care about you and want
to help you. And if you don’t feel that you have anyone to turn to, it’s never too late
to build new friendships.

Three, get treatment at the earliest sign of a problem to help prevent

depression from worsening. If you feel something different about you, like you get
easily upset, you can have counseling like in the school. The counselor can be the
person you can tell all the problems you have. With that, she or he can help give
you some advices on how you are to cope up depression.

Depression can affect anyone at any age. It doesn’t have specific person or
age to be affected. If a person with depression does not seek medical help and
even self-treatment then the mental disorder might become worse and make the
person commit suicide. One of the biggest factors to get rid of this, is our self.
Ourselves can help us to get away with it. We should take the challenges and cope
up with the negativity that we always think.

Making Snowflakes Out of a Paper

We love seeing décor that surrounded us. It can make us happy if we see
it through our eyes specially, we are the one who make or design on it. There are
lot of decorations that we can buy in malls but, it’s too expensive for us to buy it.
Instead of buying it, we can also make it through our hands and the materials that
are just in our house, which can help to save some money. It is called DIY or do it
yourself. If we don’t have nothing to think about something to make, we can also
search it in the internet. There are lot of videos and instructions in the internet that
help us to make do it yourself decorations.

What I am going to share with you is to how to make snowflakes out of

papers. All you will need for this is a paper and scissors. Some people like to use
fancy paper, but I use plain white copy paper because somehow the simplicity of
white is more beautiful to me. One tip is to have a sharp scissors, it can help you
cut easily the paper.

These steps are based on Intructables Living from the article How to Make
6-Pointed Paper Snowflakes (2009). First, begin with a square piece of copy paper.
You can choose what size or kind of paper do you want. Second, fold it in half
diagonally to make triangle. Just put one corner to its opposite corner. Third, fold
it in half again to make smaller triangle. Fourth, fold it into three equal parts. If you
want to be precise, then you can have a protractor, each “third” in this step is a 30-
degree angle. Fifth, cut the “top” off at an Angle. Make sure to cut if off so that all
remaining layers of paper are equal. As you can see, I’m basically cutting off all of
those excess edges. Sixth, shape it. This is where your imagination comes in.
Begin cutting away from the sides of the paper. Usually, cutting small triangles
from the sides is easiest, but don’t forget to try other shapes. Be careful not to cut
all the way from one side to the other, or else you’ll chop your snowflake in half. I
don’t use patterns for my snowflakes, I just cut as I go. My snowflakes are never
the same because I don’t usually plan out my snowflakes. Sometimes I find a new
cut or shape that I like. Lastly, carefully unfold the paper to reveal.

The snowflake will not lay flat right away, so I put them between the pages
of a book for a while before displaying them. It can also be ironed to make them
extra flat. Watch out though if you are using iron, because paper can get very hot
to the touch when ironed so be sure to let it cool for a second before handling the
paper, and as always exercise caution to avoid fire and burns.
In decorating, it is not about have expensive the decorations are. It doesn’t
make you feel happier to look at it, if it is very expensive. It is about the effort that
we give to it. The more the effort that we give, the more we are proud of ourselves
to look at the decorations we have finished.

The Good Side of Mining

According to Linked In from the article 5 Reasons Why You Can't Live
Without Mining (2014), over the last several years mining has been hated by all
types of people from all parts of the globe. Mining is described as unnecessary. It
has become trendy to oppose mining in all of its shape and forms. The greens
convinced the media who convinced the politicians, who in turn convinced you. But
that’s not the most interesting part. What the greens, politicians and media don’t
tell you, is that almost every part of your life and lifestyle is only made possible
through mining minerals. Mining is very important to you, even if you don’t know it.
You are the reason mining exists,

Everything we depend on is either made from minerals or relies on minerals

for its production. Minerals are central to our modern way of life. They are essential
to producing materials for construction and manufacturing, steel and cement
cannot be made without coking coal. Electricity generated from thermal coal
enables us to heat and cool our homes, and keeps the lights on, prepare and
preserve food, have fresh drinking water, and run our offices and businesses.
Televisions, mobiles and iPods all need electricity to run and are made of minerals.

(R.Taylor, 2014) gives five reasons why we can’t live without mining, but I
will discuss only four . First, we human, we want to be healthy and what make us
look best. Did you know that the majority of beauty products contain minerals from
mining? Minerals are used in vitamins, soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, household
medicines and just about every product you purchase and apply. The food you
purchase and eat is mass produced with the use of fertilizers that contains
minerals. Let’s not forget about the gym equipment. It contains a huge mix of
metals such as iron and aluminum. What about the gym equipment with
electronics? It also contains minerals. Jewelry, watches and mobile phones are
not organically grown, they are made from gold, silver, and may include precious
stones.

Second, our home. Our home is made of minerals, in fact the foundations
are made of concrete and steel. The basic services in your home (water, electricity,
gas) are conducted through copper and steel wires and pipes. We fill our home
with all sorts of electronic gadgets to improve your quality of life. None of them are
possible without mining the minerals that they are made from. Does someone use
wooden cooking equipment like frying pans, pots? That’s right, the majority of us
use these items that are made of minerals. Minerals that have been mined.

Third, our transportation, Transport is very important to the population

across the world, for many facets of our daily life. If you use any of these modes
of transport – aircraft, boat, car, bus, train, motorcycle, bicycle or Segway, then
you are relying on the by-products of mining for your transportation.

Fourth, the energy we use, in our modern lifestyles we cannot function

without energy. But do you know how that energy gets to your home or office?
Raw minerals are mined and sent to a power plant for refining. It could be a power
plant that utilizes coal, gas, or oil to produce electricity. These raw fuels came from
the minerals made only possible by mining.

So, the next time you have the need to call for an end to mining, take a few
seconds to look at yourself and your home first. Take a look at how minerals assist
you to earn your money and enjoy a quality lifestyle. Think about how even the
basics elements of your life would be possible without mining companies mining
minerals.

If next time someone from the greens, politics or media tell you that mining
is not necessary, look at the beauty products and jewelry that they are wearing,
electronic equipment that they are carrying. Then ask them are you sure you are
not using minerals.

If you will say stop to mining, then stop buying or using products that contain
minerals that came from mining. Specially, the cellphones that we are using to
spread stop mining message, you are just the one to prove that mining is important.
If you want to make it stop then make a change. Be smart enough not to use things
made with minerals to spread that news.

Just Smile

Hi everyone! We all know, we don’t want to live a messy and a dirty place.
First of all, to live a place like that is so disgusting. What we want is to feel more
comfortable and to smell air which is very fresh. And to have this we should have
to clean our house or even our environment.

In my case, yes, I want to live a house like this. But unfortunately, tiredness
really hit me so bad. That’s why, that’s why. You already know what I meant. It is
so embarrassing to say but yes, I’m still saying it. All I do in our house was just to
surf in the internet, chatting with friends, anything that does in line with cleaning
the house. I am a messy person where my things were put everywhere, but I know
it is not me, it’s my hand who has the responsibility. That’s why our house is clean.
I mean our house is cleaner than cockroaches’ place. I am just kidding. I was just
exaggerating it to make feel happy. Because I know what your hearts feel right
now. I know it. Just accept my sorry, for I am so very frankly.

Thanks everyone for listening. It is just short but I know I make you all smile.
All of it is not true, but something it is. Just smile, for always smiling makes us look
crazy. Again, thank you everyone.
