Murder at the Casino

An upscale casino in Las Vegas was sold out for the best night of excitement. A famous show,
Elvis Impersonator, was airing and people arrived early for the excitement. Victor Holmes, a
reporter who has earned his reputation through controversial journalistic activities, was among
the attendees. Holmes has been following Elvis for a story for his alleged affair with a married
woman.

Before the show starts, Holmes, who is seated in the front row, decides to move around and greet
those who may know him. He immediately spots Vardy, a suspected assassin whom he tried
reporting on but was unsuccessful.
“Hi Vardy, what are you doing here?” Asked Holmes.
“Well am here to assassinate ‘somebody’.” Vardy answers sarcastically.
“I hope it is not me.” Holmes says with a mild smile on his face.

“Today is your lucky day then. I just came here to gamble and enjoy a little bit of the show.”
Vardy says.

As the two are talking, people can be seen settling down and getting ready to enjoy the show. As
the show starts, a gunshot echoes throughout the entire casino. The curtain comes up and Elvis
can be seen lying lifeless on the floor. The casino’s doors are immediately slammed shut as
everyone is a suspect.

The gunshot sound creates an atmosphere of fear and people start running around trying to find
cover. The majority of people who were close to the stage, like Holmes and Vardy, remain where
they were shocked.
“Well, this is crazy.” Holmes breaks a moment of silence that had ensued after the gunshot.
“Since I’m here, I can get the story out.” He muttered to himself.

The bouncer to the casino, Andrews, picks up the microphone and urges the crowd to remain
calm as investigation on the incident is done.
“Do you have a suspect?” Wray, a professor at a local college asks the bouncer.

“No, we are still checking, but anyone with a gun is obviously a main suspect.” The bouncer
answers.
“Well, I saw Peters pass by earlier.” Angelina, an escort says loudly.

Peters is frequent at the Casino and is always carrying his gun. He also owns a series of firearms
and has been nicknamed the “local gun nut” by those who know him.
Peters, who hears what Angelina says quickly claims innocence and states that he lost his gun a
few moments before the shooting happened. The entire casino was full of people and there was
no easy way of searching the people for the weapon.

Do you have another room, next to this one? Where people can go after being searched for the
weapon? Asked Holmes.

“Good idea, there is another theatre just next to this one, people can be searched at the door
before going in.” The bouncer said.
“She has a gun!” A woman in the crowd can be heard.
Peters, who is close to the woman can be heard saying, “Hey that is my gun!”
Within moments, Holmes and the bouncer arrive at the scene.

“He lied that he was leaving his wife for me. I had no other choice but to shoot him.” A woman
who was identified as the Singing Coach said.

“So, what have you gained with killing him, in fact, you have destroyed your life, you are going
to prison for life.” A person in the gathered crowd was heard saying.
“Please call the police.” Holmes said to one of the men that were standing nearby.

After a few minutes, the police arrived at the incident and arrested the woman who was then later
charged with murder.
