A lot of children nowadays are suffering from diseases acquired through bad hygiene
practices and malnutrition. Along the way, the problems create an impact on the children’s
attendance and interest in school; thus, haltering their way to good education.
With this, the Department of Education (DepED), together with the Department of Health
(DOH), conducts a bi-annual practice of Handwashing, Deworming, and Toothbrushing of
students nationwide. The primary aim of the activity is to bring awareness to students on keeping
proper hygiene to prevent illnesses caused by parasitic micro-organisms.
Handwashing was the primary step in being clean. Thus, the Grade 10 Starburst lined up
their way in the restroom of the PAGCOR Building to wash their hands. The correct soaping and
rinsing of hands were observed. It was followed by feeding as students grabbed and ate on their
healthy snacks. Afterwhich, they were given the deworming pills as their parents’ waivers were
checked to ensure guardian’s consent. The students gulp their tablets together. Finally, they did
the toothbrushing. The flow of this event was documented by the classroom adviser.
The activity ended successfully. Now, the school, together with the DepED and DOH
community, hopes for the wellness and good health of the students all through the school year.
