Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the extent of implementation of corporate

social responsibility and its effect to the financial performance of small and

medium enterprises in Batangas City. Specifically, this seeks answers for the

following questions:

1. What is the profile of the business in terms of:

1.1 nature of business;

1.2 form of business organization;

1.3 number of employees; and

1.4 years of operation?

2. To what extent do small and medium enterprises (SME’s) engaged in

corporate social responsibility in terms of:

2.1 financial dimension;

2.2 environmental dimension; and

2.3 social dimension?

3. How may the financial performance of SME’s be described?

4. Is there a significant difference in the assessment of corporate social

responsibility when SME’s are grouped according to profile?

5. Is there a significant relationship between the extent of engagement to

corporate social responsibility and financial performance of SME’s?

6. Which among the dimensions of corporate social responsibility significantly

affect the financial performance?

7. Based on the findings, what course of actions may be proposed?
