This presentation is for introducing the theme *Experience* for G11 IBDP students.

Lesson Plan (60 minutes):

1. Play Alegria, a Cirque du Soleil theme as the student enter the classroom -

2. Ask them if they are familiar with ‘Cirque de Soleil’ - https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/
3. Tell them that each show is designed around a them. Then start the presentation with the
first video (slide 2) which has a short clip from a show with the ‘Avataar’ theme. They
have probably forgotten the plot of the film, so it will be a good discussion to have in
French.
4. Now, play a short clip from the film (slide 3) where Jake, the protagonist, is learning
about life in Pandora. Use the questions provided to start a discussion around experi-
ences and how they change us (or don’t) -

5. The final activity (slide 4) is where the students prepare a mind map to represent Jake’s
CAS sheet (if he were an IBDP student).
