3 DEFLECTIONS
Typical interior floor framing shall be designed to limit live load deflections to
SPAN/350 and total deflection to SPAN/250. Cantilevers shall be designed to
limit live load deflections to 2xLENGTH/350 and total deflection to
2xLENGTH/250.
For the Long span simply supported, continuous or cantilever beams this will
be achieved by specifying pre-camber for a percentage of the self-weight and
supported dead load.

6.2 LATERAL DRIFT

Overall lateral and inter-story drift due to wind loading shall be limited to H/500
respectively, with H defined as the overall building height above surrounding
ground elevation and h as the story height.
Overall lateral and inter-story drift due to elastic analysis seismic loading,
including second order effects and foundation/soil interaction, shall be limited
per the IS 1893:2016. Drift limits are H/500 (overall) and h/250 (inter-story).

6.3 CLEAR COVER TO REINFORCEMENT

Footing 75mm bottom, 50mm top and sides
Column 40mm
Beam 30mm
Slab 30mm
Walls 40mm

6.4 EXPOSURE CONDITION

Moderate, for both substructure and superstructure.

6.5 FIRE RATING

The structure will be designed for TYPE 2 construction. With following fire rating for
structural elements
1. Columns and shear wall - 2 hours
2. Slab and beam – 1.5hour

6.6 DESIGN LIFE

The design life is considered as 50 years.

CONCLUSION

The design basis outlined in this document has been based on currently available data issued
by the client and the architect. It will need to be updated if design objectives or assumptions
are revised, or if more complete information becomes available in the future. As such, this
document should be thoroughly reviewed and verified by the architect and client for accuracy
and completeness. Any perceived non-conformance with project standards or expectations
should be brought to our attention as early as possible.
