महाजन य संसगः, महापु ष का सामी य For whom is the

क य नो तकारकः। कसके लए company of great
प प थतं तोयम्, लाभदायक नह होता, people not

eternal practice.

व वं च नृप वं च व ता और रा य Intelligence and

न एव तु ये कदाचन्। अतुलनीय ह, राजा को kingdom can never
वदे शे पू यते राजा तो अपने रा य म ही be compared. A
king is respected in
व ान् सव पू यते॥ स मान मलता है पर
his own land
व ान का सव whereas a wise
स मान होता है॥ man is respected
everywhere.

मूख य प च च हा न मूख के पाँच ल ण ह There are five

गव वचनं तथा। - गव, अपश द, ोध, signs of fools -
ोध ढवाद हठ और सर क Pride, abusive
language, anger,
परवा ये वनादरः॥ बात का अनादर॥ 
stubborn
arguments and
disrespect for
other people's
opinion.

अ ौ गुणा पु षं द पयं त आठ गुण पु ष को Eight qualities

ा सुशील वदमौ ुतं च। सुशो भत करते ह - adorn a man -
परा म ब भा षता च बु , सु दर च र , intellect, good
character, self-
दानं यथाश कृत ता च॥ आ म- नयं ण,
control, study of
शा -अ ययन, scriptures, valor,
साहस, मतभा षता, less talking, charity
यथाश दान और as per capability
कृत ता॥  and gratitude.

मा बलमश ानाम् मा नबल का बल Forgiveness is the

श ानाम् भूषणम् मा। है, मा बलवान का power of
मा वशीकृते लोके आभूषण है, मा ने powerless.
Forgiveness adorns
मयाः कम् न स त॥ इस व को वश म
the powerful.
कया आ है, मा से Forgiveness has
कौन सा काय स controlled this
नह हो सकता है॥ entire world. What
cannot be achieved
by forgiveness!

न ही क त् वजाना त कल या होगा यह No one knows what

क क य ो भ व य त। कोई नह जानता है is going to happen
इस लए कल के करने tomorrow. So doing
all of tomorrow's
अतः ः करणीया न यो य काय को आज task today is a
ै बु मान्॥   
कुयाद व कर लेने वाला ही signature of wise.
बु मान है ॥

आयुषः ण एकोऽ प आयु का एक ण भी Even a single

सवर नैन न ल यते। सारे र न को दे ने से second in life
नीयते स वृथा येन ा त नह कया जा cannot be obtained
back by all
मादः सुमहानहो ॥ सकता है, अतः इसको
precious jewels.
थ म न कर दे ना Hence spending it
महान असावधानी है॥ wastefully is a
great mistake.

चता चता समा ो ा चता और चता समान "Chita" and "Chinta"

ब मा ं वशेषता। कही गयी ह पर उसम are said to be same
सजीवं दहते चता भी चता म एक ब still there is a
difference of a dot.
नज वं दहते चता॥ क वशेषता है; चता
Pyre(chita) burns
तो मरे ए को ही the dead while
जलाती है पर चता Worry(chinta)
जी वत को॥ burns the alive. 

णशः कणश ैव ण- ण व ा के Knowledge should

व ामथ च साधयेत् । लए और कण-कण be gained through
ण यागे कुतो व ा धन के लए य न minute by minute
efforts. Money
कण यागे कुतो धनम्॥    करना चा हए। समय
should be earned
न करने पर व ा utilizing each and
और साधन के न every resource. If
करने पर धन कैसे you waste time,
ा त हो सकता है॥  how can you get
knowledge. If you
waste resources,
how can you
accumulate the
wealth.

अ प वणमयी लंका हे ल मण! सोने क O Lakshman, even

न मे ल मण रोचते। लंका भी मुझे अ छ though Lanka is a
जननी ज मभू म नह लगती है। माता golden land, it does
not appeal to me.
वगाद प गरीयसी॥  और मातृभू म वग से
One's mother and
भी बढ़ कर ह॥  motherland are
greater than
heaven itself.

ना रकेलसमाकारा स जन The nobles are like

coconuts, tough
 य तेऽ प ह स जनाः। ना रयल के समान होते outside but soft
अ ये बद रकाकारा ह, अ य तो बदरी फल inside. Others are
ब हरेव मनोहराः॥ के समान केवल बाहर like jujube fruit,
beautiful only
से ही अ छे लगते ह ॥
outside.

ना भषेको न सं कारः कोई और सह का वन Nobody declares a

सह य यते वने। के राजा जैसे अ भषेक lion as the king of
व मा जतस व य या सं कार नह करता forest by doing
rituals. By sheer
वयमेव मृगे ता॥ है, अपने परा म के

बल पर वह वयं lion achieves the

गते शोको न कत ो बीते ए समय का One should not

भ व यं नैव च तयेत् । शोक नह करना mourn over the

वतय त वच णाः॥ लए परेशान नह होना
about the future.
चा हए, बु मान तो The wise operate in
वतमान म ही काय present.
करते ह ॥

यः पठ त लख त प य त जो पढ़ता है, लखता One who reads,

प रपृ छ त पं डतान् है, दे खता है, writes, sees,
उपा य त। पूछता है, बु मान inquires, lives in
the company of
त य दवाकर करणैः न लनी का आ य लेता है,
learned, his
दलं इव व ता रता बु ः॥ उसक बु उसी intellect expands
कार बढ़ती है जैसे as the lotus petals
क सूय करण से expands due to the
कमल क पंखु ड़याँ॥   rays of sun.

उदये स वता र ो उदय होते समय सूय The sun looks red
र : ा तमये तथा। लाल होता है और while rising and
स प ौ च वप ौ च अ त होते समय भी setting. Great men
too remain alike in
महतामेक पता॥ लाल होता है, स य है
both the good and
महापु ष सुख और bad times.
ःख म समान रहते
ह॥  

वदे शेषु धनं व ा वदे श म व ा धन है, Knowledge is

सनेषु धनं म त:। संकट म बु धन है, wealth in a foreign
परलोके धनं धम: परलोक म धम धन है land. Intelligence is
wealth in tough
शीलं सव वै धनम्॥
times.
 और शील सव ही Righteousness is
धन है॥  wealth in other
world. Verily, Good
Character is wealth
everywhere and at
all the times!

दशने पशणे वा प य द कसी को दे खने If seeing or

वणे भाषणेऽ प वा। से या पश करने से, touching
य व य तर ं स सुनने से या बात करने somebody; hearing
or speaking with
नेह इ त क यते॥ से दय वत हो तो
somebody, touches
इसे नेह कहा जाता your heart, then it

दोषे द पक ं : शाम को च मा Moon illumines the

Attachment is the
ःख नह है और याग biggest pain.
के समान सुख नह Renunciation is the

उ साहो बलवानाय उ साह े पु ष का Enthusiasm is the

ना यु साहा परं बलम्। बल है, उ साह से power of noble
सो साह य च लोकेषु बढ़कर और कोई बल men. Nothing is as
powerful as
न क चद प लभम्॥ नह है। उ सा हत
enthusiasm.
के लए इस Nothing is difficult
लोक म कुछ भी लभ in this world for an
नह है॥ enthusiastic
person.

ायामात् लभते वा यं ायाम से वा य, Exercise results in

द घायु यं बलं सुखं। ल बी आयु, बल और good health, long

वा यं सवाथसाधनम्॥ भा य है और वा य health is the

पु तक था तु या व ा पु तक म लखी ई The knowledge

परह तगतं धनं। व ा, सरे के हाथ म which is residing in

न सा व ा न तद् धनं॥ पड़ने पर  काम नह
possession of

their purpose.

अ ततॄ णा न कत ा अ धक इ छाएं नह Extra desires

तॄ णां नैव प र यजेत।् करनी चा हए पर should be avoided
शनै: शनै भो ं इ छा का सवथा but desires should
not be given up
वयं व मुपा जतम् ॥ याग भी नह करना
totally. One should
चा हए। अपने कमाये use self earned
ए धन का धीरे-धीरे money gently.
उपभोग करना
चा हये॥

ोधो वैव वतो राजा ोध यमराज के Anger is like King

तॄ णा वैतरणी नद । समान है और तृ णा of Death. Greed is
व ा काम घा धेन:ु नरक क वैतरणी नद like turbulent river
of hell. Knowledge
स तोषो न दनं वनम्॥ के समान। व ा सभी
is all fulfilling cow
इ छा को पूरी करने and contentment is
वाली कामधेनु है और the heaven's
संतोष वग का नंदन paradise.
वन है॥

लोभमूला न पापा न लोभ पाप और सभी Greed is the root

संकटा न तथैव च। संकट का मूल कारण cause of all sins
लोभा वतते वैरं है, लोभ श ुता म वृ and troubles. Greed
gives rise to enmity
अ तलोभा वन य त॥ करता है, अ धक लोभ
and excess greed
करने वाला वनाश को leads to disaster.
ा त होता है॥

धॄ त: मा दमोऽ तेयं धम के दस ल ण ह - There are ten

शौच म य न ह:। धैय, मा, आ म- characteristics of
'Dharma' - patience,
 धी व ा स यम ोधो नयं ण, चोरी न forgiveness, self-
दशकं धमल णम्॥ करना, प व ता, control, non-
इ य-संयम, बु , stealing, purity,
control of senses,
व ा, स य और ोध
intelligence,
न करना॥    knowledge, truth,
non-anger.

अ भवादनशील य वन और न य A person who is

न यं वॄ ोपसे वन:। अनुभ वय क सेवा polite and serves
च वा र त य वध ते करने वाले म चार गुण experienced people
regularly, gains
आयु व ा यशो बलम्॥ का वकास होता है -
four qualities - age,
आयु, व ा, यश और knowledge, fame
बल ॥ and power. 

व ा म ं वासेषु वास (घर से र Knowledge is

भाया म ं गॄहेषु च। नवास) म व ा म friend in the
ा धत यौषधं म ं होती है, घर म प नी journey, wife is the
friend at home,
धम म ं मॄत य च॥ म होती है, रोग म
drug is friend in
औष ध म होती है illness and Dharma
और मृतक का म (righteousness) is
धम होता है ॥ the friend after
death.

ॐ असतो मा स मय, हे भु! अस य से O Lord! Lead me

तमसो मा यो तगमय, स य, अ धकार से from the untruth to
मॄ योमा अमॄतं गमय। काश और मृ यु से truth,  darkness to
light and death to
अमरता क ओर मेरी
immortality.
ग त हो ।

यथा ह एकेन च े ण जस कार एक प हये Just like a chariot

न रथ य ग तभवेत।् वाले रथ क ग त cannot run with
एवं पु षकारेण वना संभव नह है, उसी only a single wheel,
similarly luck alone
दै वं न स य त॥ कार पु षाथ के
cannot complete a
बना केवल भा य से task without
काय स नह होते efforts.
ह।
