Warning

The warning expressions are used to give warning to other people. In fact, we can find
many of warnings sentence at the street or at the mall or maybe at the hospital. The warnings
sentence or expressions are caused by situations. Sometimes the warnings are also contain of
informative notices and also advices. Here are some examples..

• Informatives notices :

o Out of order (for machine that is not working)

o No vacancies (there are no more rooms to rent in a hotel, there are no jobs
in an office)

• Warning that you have to do :

o Please queue other side (at the supermarket)

o Keep right (at the road)

• Usual warning :

o No smoking (at the hospital)

o Please do not feed the animals (at the zoo)

• Watch out :

o Watch your head (at the elevator)

o Beware of fierce dog

2. Advising

Advising is a way to express when you want to offer suggestion to other people and
somehow is followed when someone want to ask us to do something. Here are some examples:

• Asking for advices :

o Do you think I ought to call the police?

o If you were me, what would you tell her?

o If you were in my situation, would you forgive him?

• Offering advices :

o I advise you to talk with your lawyer.

o Try ignoring her for a while.

o I suggest that we go out for dinner tonight.

3. Permission

Permissions are needed for us to be polite to other older people or maybe the people that
we don’t know. We can ask permission also give and deny permission.

• Asking permission :

o Can I close the window, please?

o Do you mind if I smoke?

o Would you mind if I went with her?

• Giving permission :

o Sure, go ahead.

o It’s okay with me.

o I won’t stop you.

• Denying permission :

o Yes, I do mind.

4. Feelings

Expression feeling in this material is the same with expressing surprise. Here are some
surprise expressions:

o No. I don’t believe it. o Oh, no. that’s no true.

o Are you serious? o Really?

o Are you joking? o It’s suprising that…

o Are you kidding? o What a surprise!

o You must be joking. o This is really a surprise!

o Wow! o Incredible!

5. Relief

Relief expressions are used to show our relief after activity such as tired of working,
learning and others. Here are some examples:

o Thank goodness for o Oh, marvelous!

o Oh, what a relief!
o Oh, good!
o Phew!

6. Feeling Scared

Scared expressions are used to show our fear of something bad or something scary. Here
are some examples sentences:

o I’m scared o It’s frightening

o You scare me o It’s horrible

7. Opinions

Opinion expressions are used to express our opinions about something.

o In my opinion. o I believe.

o I personally think. o It seems that.

o I think.

8. Agreement

Agreement expressions are used to show our opinions that states agree or about
something. Here are some examples:

o Yes, I agree with you. o Yes, I suppose so.

o I think so too. o That’s exactly what I think.

o That’s right.

9. Disagreement

Disagreement expressions are used to show our opinions that states disagree or about
something. Here are some examples:

o We will never agree o I disagree with you.

o Not at all. o I think that’s nonsense.

10. Satisfaction

Satisfaction expressions are used to express our satisfaction about something. Here are
some examples sentences:

o I really like your … o I’m happy enough with it.

o It was satisfactory. o Good enough.

o Everything is fine, thank you.

11. Dissatisfaction

Dissatisfaction expressions are used to express our dissatisfaction about something. Here
are some examples sentences:

o I am a little dissatisfied with…

o I am a bit disappointed with…

12. Love

Love expression is used to express our feelings about something that we like or we love.
Here are some examples sentences:

o I love you. o I’ll never stop loving you.

the end of time.

PREFACE

Our English Article contains the explanation about that each expressions. We also
give some expressions sentences and examples too. The materials developed in this article took
from look ahead. It is a series of English course books for Secondary High School students. We
take this expression of feeling that often occurs in teenagers or adult.

All the activities in this article explain the meaning about that each expression and
some examples sentences whom often we said. Materials are organized as an integrated sequence
of activities around a text type being discussed.

At the end of the articles are expected to the information of the other expression, it
to be able to get involved in communication using English, spoken as well as written, not only for
transactional and interpersonal purpose but also for accessing information in this information age.
Furthermore, they are expected to be able to create an expression in various contexts and adjust
themselves to new communication demands.
