In Florence, he balances his work, family time, and time for his art. A self-taught artist
who typically explored and honed his skills independently as in his hometown there
were no schools of art.

Social art or frequently referred to as “social-practice,” typically focuses on work that impacts
societies’ problems like poverty, inequality, pollution, politics and the impact of religion
amongst its own people. Kevin Villar Cubinar’s artworks tends to display a strong sociological
and political bent, often in an effort to draw attention to collective ills and conditions which are
meant to encourage empowerment or incite change in a community. His art is in the intent to
change the narrative of today’s neglect.
Kevin is a young talented Filipino artist whose areas of interest are in portraiture, painting and
working on murals. Currently a graduating student of Architecture and when not in school; has
participated in Petron Painting Competition, Shell Art Painting Competition, GSIS Painting
Competition and most recently, at the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE). He
said he was inspired by the vision of joining art competitions because of its commitment to
nation-building for a better world.
