LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 9

(Biology – First Quarter)

____________________

CONTENT STANDARD:
The Learners demonstrate understanding of how genetic information is organized in
genes and on chromosomes.

PERFORMNCE STANDARD:
The learners should be able to describe the location of genes in chromosomes, and
explain the different patterns of non- mendelian inheritance.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES: S9LT-lD-28

I. Learning Objectives:
The learner should be able to;
Infer the unknown phenotypes of individuals on the basis of the known
phenotypes of their family members.
II. Subject Matter
a. Topic: Heredity: Inheritance and Variation
b. Concept: Multiple Alleles
c. Materials : activity sheet, pen
d. Reference: Learners Material pp. 32-34
e. Process Skills: Explaining, illustrating, solving
f. Values Integration: Awareness on the possible outcome of two being crossed.
III. Learning Task: Collaborative, Constructive

a. Engage:
Ask: Do you know what blood type are you? How do blood types are
inherited?
b. Explore:
To help the learners understand better about incomplete dominance, they
will work on Activity 2 (Mystery Bull)
c. Explain:
1. Will you be able to trace the father of the calves? What are the possible
genotypes of the calves for each cow?
2. How would you apply what you have learned to improve the breeds of
livestock in your area?
3. How can you help the animal breeders in your area to have a good
output?
d. Elaborate
In codominance both alleles are expressed equally in the phenotype of the
heterozygote. For example, red cows crossed with white cows will have offspring that
are roan cows. Roan refers to cows with red air and while blotches.
e. Evaluate
What is the possible phenotype of the offspring if a chicken with black
feathers crossed with white feathered chicken? Will it result to a grayish chicken?
