20 Life Lessons That Can Be Learned From Baseball

Baseball, at its core, is just a game played by millions of individuals around the globe.

Despite being just a game, baseball can provide fans and those who play it with lessons that can

be applied to life. Having played and coached baseball for over 17 years, I’ve learned many

things that I have applied to the game of life.

1. Take life one moment at a time. In baseball, the game can only be played one pitch at a

time. You can’t worry about what might happen 5 pitches from now or 5 moments from now.

2. Slow it down. Take the time to stop and take a breath and reset your mind if things get

moving too fast.

3. Find ways to clear your mind and refocus.

4. Don’t let past mistakes affect your performance in upcoming opportunities.

5. Be the best you can be in the role you are serving.

6. Do everything to the best of your ability. Otherwise, you will be passed up for the next

opportunity.

7. Don’t give less than 100% effort in anything you do.

8. Work with those around you to achieve a common goal.

9. Don’t be afraid to let your emotions go. It shows your passion and that you care.

10. Always stretch. It will prepare your body and mind for anything and everything.

11. Never give up. You won’t know what you can achieve if you give up early.

12. Don’t take anything for granted.

13. Focus on the things that you are able to control. Don’t stress about the uncontrollable

things in life.

14. Don’t be afraid of failure. It is inevitable. Don’t let this fear keep you from taking risks

and attempting something great.

15. Don’t let people say you can’t do something.

16. Keep your eye on the ball. In life, this means keeping your eye on the goal or the task at

hand. Not getting distracted.

17. Allow others to help you get something done. You can’t do everything by yourself, no

matter how hard you try.

18. Always show up prepared.

19. The mind is the strongest muscle in the body. You can’t psyche yourself out or be too

hard on yourself if something doesn’t go your way.

20. Just have fun with it. It is just a game after all.
