Unit 5: BEING PART OF ASEAN
Part 5: LISTENING
Level: Grade 11
I. Aims: By the end of the lesson, student will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Listen for gist and specific information in a sports instructor's talk about the ASEAN School Games.
- Get some information about the ASEAN School Games through listening to a sports
instructor’s talk:
+ Listen to decide the True-False Statements or choose the main ideas.
+ Identify the meaning of words depending on the context
+ Know about the cooperation and solidarity among ASEAN countries.
2. Skill:
- To promote Ss to develop their listening skills (guessing, seeking, gist listening, test-taking…)
- To help Ss develop the skill of working in pairs and groups
-Sub skills: Reading, writing, speaking, language …
3. Attitude:
- Respect ASEAN countries and their diverse cultures.
- To provide Ss some motivation.
II. Methods: Integrated, mainly communicative
III. Teaching techniques: Eliciting, synonyms, explanation, information, transfer, asking and
answering the questions, discussion, pair-work, group-work.
Pre-listening: (8 minutes) -Let students open the book -Students read and do the
