Chapter I

Business Profile

This Chapter discusses about the Name of the Company, Company’s Vision and

Mission statement and Company Objectives. The Chapter also presents the Logo of the

Company, Capital Contribution of Proponents, Form of Business Organization, Location

of the Company and the Description of the Product and Services

Name of the Company

The company name "Back Street Balls" was derived from the Boy band group Back

Street boys to make it easier for the customers to remember the business name. It was

also a combination of "street foods" and "fish balls" which signifies that the business is

about street foods and fish ball is their main product.

Nature of the company

According to the Business Dictionary, merchandising business sells a product

without changing its form. Back Street Balls company will engage in merchandising

Filipino street foods such as fish balls, squid balls, chicken balls, kikiam and hotdogs at

T. Alonzo Street, West Rembo, Makati City. The proponents will buy these raw street

foods at Unimec Guadalupe, cook and sell it to the people living in the area. The location

of the business stall was chosen because of its busy street that will open the opportunity

for more potential customers. Since the name of the company is Back Street Balls, the

proponents decided to also put up speakers at their stall playing the songs of the Boy

band group as a way of catching the customer's attention. In addition, the business will

also practice eco-friendliness by limiting the usage of plastic cups.


Company's Vision and Mission Statement

Vision

To be the best seller of Street foods in the area by providing fresh and quality

products in cheap rates but with proper sanitation.

Mission

To sell excellent quality products to be patronized by consumers to meet

individuals’ contentment and assure that the products are affordable.

Company Objectives

The authors identified objectives for their business namely Short-term objectives and

Long-term objectives. Specifically:

LONG TERM OBJECTIVES

•To provide the customers quality products at cheaper rates

•To be able to retain consumers through excellent customer service

•To develop long-lasting relationship with customer

•To be able to change the perception of people regarding safety and cleanliness of

street foods

•To increase the level of awareness of customers on the different ways that the street

foods can be introduced

•To line up with other competitors using unique approach in catering street foods

 To put up new stalls and new products as well as cater to other areas of Makati

Figure 1 shows the Company’s Logo which is explained as follows:

Font

The name of the company is displayed in a "chalkboard" font which is characterized by


rough, broken edges and its hand-lettered feels give the vibes of the street just as what
graffiti makes people feel. The free handwriting stroke of each letter implies the joy that
the proponents have upon opening the business. It is also written in this way to
emphasize the creativity of combining the proponents' interest in a boy band group and
in street foods. In addition, it also contributes in engaging on the customers’ emotions
leaving a lasting impression.

Colors
For the font color of the company name, the proponents used different bright
colors to mimic how the colors of a graffiti looks like and to make it applealing to the
eyes of thosw who will look at it. It also has different colors to represent the variety of
street foods that the company will sell in the future.

The colors white and blue was used to mimic the signature outfit of the boy band group
and to make the colors of the font and streetfoods stand out. The colors used in the
head of the characters are to imitate the real color of fish ball, squid ball, chicken ball
and hotdog. Color gray was used as the background of the text to compliment with the
variety of colors used in the font text. It was also used to make the paper tray look more
realistic.

Street food heads

The head of the characters was changed into a chicken ball, kikiam, squidball, fishball
and hotdog to represent the main product that the company offers. This creative idea
was an outcome of thinking what image will be catchy and most of the people won't
forget. The purpose of this street food heads is to leave an unforgettable image in the
minds of the consumers and to captivate the attention of children, adolescents and
young adults.

Body of the characters

The Backstreet Boys' body were used in the logo to directy represent the creative
collaboration of the boy band group theme and the street food business. This will help
the company to build its image making the business name retain on the memory of its
customers.

Street background and paper tray

The background of the logo was an image of a street to match the vibe that the other
elements gave. It was also to represent the setting where the business will take place
and operate. On the other hand, a paper tray drawing was used as the background of
the company name to emphasize the sincerity of the business in serving its customers
with quality food and catchy marketing strategy.

Capital Contribution

The partners agreed to contribute an equal amount of 200 pesos each.

Company Location

The proponents chose to use a stall as their platform of marketing and

communication towards their customers. The business is located in T. Alonzo Street,

West Rembo, Makati City. The area is known to be a busy street which will be an

advantage in the profitability of the business.

Product Description
Back Street Balls company will offer fishballs, squid balls, chicken balls, kikiam and

hotdogs with three choices of sauce such as spicy, sweet, and sweet & sour sauce. The

materials needed for packaging will be purchased from Unimec Guadalupe while the raw

materials will come from Guadalupe Market. The products offered will be cooked

according to the preference of the customers; whether it will be toasted or slightly cooked.

Like how the usual street food businesses in the Philippines, the customers can choose

whether they will just use sticks only or still use a fishball paper tray. Customers are only

allowed to use plastic cups for take-out purposes only.

Fishballs

Fishballs are a staple of Chinese cooking which are widely popular in the

Philippines as a product being sold by street vendors. It is somewhat flat in shape and

most often made from the meat of cuttlefish or Pollock. These fish meatballs are primarily

white or yellow in color, and measure about an inch to two inches in diameter. The balls

are deep fried then served skewered, and offered with a choice of three kinds of dipping

sauces:

a) Spicy (white/orange colored) – vinegar, water, diced onions and garlic

b) Sweet (brown gravy colored) – corn starch, banana ketchup, sugar and salt
c) Sweet/Sour (amber or deeper orange colored) – the sweet variety with lots of

small hot chilies added.

Squid balls

The raw squid is puréed, mixed with some flour and spices, formed into a ball and

then deep fried.

Chicken balls

Version of famous Filipino street food balls are the chicken balls which consist of

small, spherical or nearly spherical pieces of chicken. They are deep fried and best served

with a dipping sauce similar to fishballs.


Kikiam

These are made of ground pork and vegetables wrapped in bean curd sheets.

They are then deep fried and dipped in sauce similar to fishballs.

Hotdogs

Hot dogs are a processed meat product made by mixing chopped meat with

various curing ingredients, flavourings, and colorants which are often served with

fishballs. These are being sliced into bit sizes to match with other Filipino streetfoods such

fishballs, squidballs, chicken balls, kikiam and hotdogs. Tender Juicy is the most preferred

brand of hotdogs to be marketed upon the customers.
