I am 17 years of age and grew up in Tlalcopan, a city 10 km away
from Tenochtitlan. My consists of me, Texcoco, my brother, my two sisters, my dad, and my mom. To me, my brother and my dad play an important role to me and my family because my brother is the oldest sibling and my dad is the oldest, they are role models to the family. They both fought in the war and show courage and dedication. My family is part of the commoner class, my dad after the war became a farmer and my mom stays at home and takes care of us. This is also why me, my dad, and my brother went to war, so we can move up the social hierarchy. At a young age, I wanted to go to war so I can serve the Aztec Nation and protect it. I also went to war so our family can get more wealth. I trained hard to be a good warrior, I tried my hardest. I trained all day and night. I couldn’t wait for the first time I went to war, so I could prove I was the best warrior. I went to war to give back to the gods when I kill someone in war it’s my way of giving back to the gods. The more people I kill the more I give back to the gods. I give blood to the gods if I don’t go to war for a long time. I also give blood to the god before the war so I get better luck in the war. The first war I was in was the Battle of Tenochtitlan, I showed the people how good I was at war, but didn’t move me up the hierarchy. I was 16 years old, I was a little nervous, but brave and had the courage to win the war. Now, my shield its self is for protection, but the symbolism on the shield is very important. My mother made it for me, she said it was simple but everything on the shield has meaning. The sun represents where we give back to the gods, the triangle represents where it happens.
