Is the measurement and correction of the performance in order to
make sure that the organizational objectives and plans devised to
attain the m was accomplished.
Characteristics of Good Controlling
 Reflect the nature of activity.
 Be objective.
 Be flexible.
 Be economical
 Be understandable
 Indicate corrective action.
The Importance of Controlling
1. Helps mangers to communicate with others both inside and
outside the organization.
2. Represent standard business practice.
3. Enable managers to know what is happening in the
organization.
Controlling Process

A. Establish standards for all elements of management in terms o f


expected and measurable outco mes.
B. Make any improvements deemed necessary from feedback.
C. Apply the standards by collecting data and measuring the
objectives of nursing management.

D. Keep the process continuous for all areas including:
 Management of the nursing division, and subunit.
 Performance of personnel.
 Nursing process.
