THE EFFECTS OF ILLEGAL LOGGING IN THE FOREST

Illegal logging is one of the most worrying problems to date. There is a lot of illegal
logging that causes the forest to become barren so that there will be many disasters that will
occur. Illegal logging is usually done for the benefit of land clearing or it can be caused by the
interests of just one person. Illegal logging is mostly done by people who want to fulfill certain
interests. Illegal logging is actually very worrying if there is no further action or reforestation
because it could allow many disasters. Possible disasters include landslides, global warming and
flooding. Illegal logging is now happening more and is causing very dangerous disasters.

Illegal logging will cause of natural problems that might occur such as landslides. This
landslide is a problem that often occurs in forest areas. If there is illegal logging in the forest
area, this will have an impact to the forest being deforested, thus resulting in landslides. The
importance of trees in hilly areas in particular is to store water and strengthen soil structure.
Availability of abundant water will be stored first at the root of the tree, so that the soil will
remain sturdy and not collapse. Forests that are still preserved are unlikely to experience
landslides. This is because there are still many trees and from these trees the root of the plant is
what functions as a soil structure pemdata. If when rain comes, the water does not directly hit the
ground so it does not cause landslides. The root of the tree will actually absorb the rain that
comes. For bare forests, rain water can fall directly to the ground without being blocked by trees
first. The water is also not absorbed by tree roots. Soils that are exposed to continuous rain
contour and soil structure can be damaged and then cause landslides.

The that effect occurs from illegal logging besides landslides is the occurrence of global
warming. When there are many trees that are cut down will cause the release of carbon dioxide
in it, this causes high levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Seeing the terrible impacts,
forest conservation must and must be implemented immediately. Forest exploitation, which
continues from the past to the present without being accompanied by replanting, causes the forest
area to be damaged. In addition, deforestation causes disruption to the water cycle and makes the
environment drier which leads to climate change.

This illegal logging can also cause flooding. This illegal logging causes flooding because
forests that function as water absorbers cannot absorb and store large amounts of water when
heavy rains occur. This is caused by the roots of trees or plant roots can absorb rain water which
overflows so that even when floods come flooding water can be absorbed by roots with a lot of
volume. If the forest has been deforested as a result of illegal logging, it is possible that when a
flood comes, the flood water can spread everywhere caused by not being absorbed by the roots
of the tree.

The emergence of many natural disasters caused by illegal logging is very dangerous to
the lives of living creatures that are around the illegal logging area. This illegal logging can
cause landslides, global warming, and flooding. These various problems that arise should have
done a lot of socialization about the dangers arising from illegal logging. In addition,
reforestation is also very necessary to maintain the beauty of the forest.
