Title : Measuring Electric Current in a Simple Electric Circuit

By : Aldrich.E.Terimsia

I. Procedures

The materials used in this experiment was a multimeter, wires, batteries,

and resistors. The batteries used was the one that have 1.5 V. The resistors
used was the one that have 1 Ω and 470 Ω. On the first experiment, the
materials was prepared on a table. After that, the wires was connected to the
multimeter, 1 ohm and 470 Ω resistor, and 1 cell which contains 1.5 V. The
data was recorded and the table was cleaned. On the second experiment, the
materials was prepared on the table. After that, the wires was connected to
the multimeter, 1 ohm and 470 Ω resistor, and 2 cells which contains 1.5 V
each. The data was recorded and the table was cleaned.

II. Results
From this experiment, it is found that an increase in voltage will increase
the electric current too. It is also found that the greater the resistance, the
weaker the current.

Fig. 2.1 A simple electric circuit

When 1.5 V cell is connected to 1 Ω resistor, it shows 0.72 A of electric
current, while when it is connected to 470 Ω resistor, it shows 6 x 10-3 A of
electric current.

When 3.0 V cells are connected to 1 Ω resistor, it shows 1.3 A of electric

current, while when it is connected to 470 Ω resistor, it shows 11 x 10-3 A of
electric current.

Voltage (Volt ; V) Resistance (Ohm ; Ω) Current (Ampere ; A)

1Ω 0.72 A
1.5 V
470 Ω 6 x 10-3 A
2 Cells 2 Cells 2 Cells
1Ω 1.3 A
3.0 V
470 Ω 11 x 10-3 A

III. Conclusion

By doing this experiment, it is known that the higher the voltage, the
greater the current. It is also known that the greater the resistance, the
weaker the current.
