1 ATOS

ATO provides an integrated set of services – Consulting, Systems Integration and Managed
Operations (Design, Build and Operate) - to a focused base of SMEs and multinational clients
in specifically targeted market segments, which include Telecom, Financial Services, Public
Sector, Health, High-Tech, Retail and Consumer Products, Oil & Gas, Utilities and Transport.
It is relevant to mention that ATOS is not an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) that
develops its own closed software products (although it has some products in the portfolio).

Partner’s role in HoliDes

Atos will contribute in many parts of this project. It participates in WP1 – T1.1– Human
factor functional requirement. T1.5 – Functional requirements if the RTP from a
technological perspective. ATOS will develop components, apply their technical integration
and ensure their interoperability. In Task 1.6 ATOS will support and advice about the use of
the HF-RTP in WP6-9.
WP4 - In Task 4.5 ATOS will prepare the integration and coordination of middleware
components development.
In WP6, Atos will provide support during the development of the systems and in T6.2, we
will define and describe the requirements on for the HF-RTP of the healthcare applications
especially for the adaptive features of the medical equipment.
In WP10 - Task 10.1 ATOS will contribute to the dissemination activities of the project,
participate in major events (conferences, exhibitions, etc.), and contribute to journal papers.
In Task 10.2 ATOS will contribute to the exploitation activities.

Partner’s utilisation of HoliDes results

Atos is interested in exploiting HoliDes results to integrate them in the Health and
Automotive Service offering given to the customers. ATOS, as IT leader, can play the role of
middleware provider and software integrator. Aligned with the company view, ATOS will
analyse the commercialisation of the outcomes of HoliDes, being them the HoliDes platform
as a whole or isolated/partial innovative subsystems, with the aim of improving the current
service portfolio, and introducing ICT applications to its customers. Atos will as well exploit
the new business models transferring the technology and knowledge towards industry.

Potential markets and customers

Health
A possible classification of potential customers for HoliDes could include at least 3 main
roles:
 Stakeholder role. Here are included all the companies or individual researchers
whose main interests lay on data mining activities related with healthcare. The
possibility of accessing not only anonymized data from multiple patients but doing
that in a standardized way (and hence with little effort from their part) is as
challenging from the technical point of view as appealing from the business one.
Examples of other possible stakeholders are companies from the fitness industry,
insurance companies, dentists, physiotherapists and nutritionists.
 Customer role. Last trends put the patient on the centre of the Healthcare cycle 1 , so
it is important to include him/her as well as one of the main customer segments in
our Business Model.
 Caregiver role. Apart from research activities, the data of each patient will provide
useful information to the caregivers taking care of him. Personalized data including
physiological signals along with physical activity information will enhance the service
delivered by physicians. Since this part of the data will not be anonymized, it will
have to be determined whether a different interface for caregivers will be developed
besides of the one serving the stakeholders.

Automotive and transport

The achievements of the goals of HoliDes are very valuable for Atos in order to enrich its
support and commercial product lines focused on real-time systems, which can also be
integrated as part of high-performance computing. The development of Real Control System
solutions focused on Atos’ manufacturing and robotics clients and partners, with the assets
developed in the HoliDes Automotive use case can give us a plus in the embedded systems
development market applicable in so many industry fields such as transportation, logistics
and automotive.

Market position
Health
ATOS is positioned in the HealthCare market in many different countries around Europe.
The following references express the nature of our presence in Europe:
Atos delivers electronic document management to hospitals across England. We have
revolutionised the referral process by managing electronically the majority of GP referrals to
hospitals, to date we have managed over 36 million electronic bookings and we process up
to 700,000 transactions a day. In Scotland, Atos scanners process up to six documents a
second during the business day. This equates to over 1million forms every week for
approximately 1,500 pharmacists, 1,000 opticians and 950 dental practices. In South
America, Atos systems validate, administer and monitor the cost of medical intervention for
6.5 million privately insured patients, managing 4.5 million transactions at over 12,000
pharmacies.
As a strategic partner for the Hovestaden Region in Denmark, Atos provides SAP
implementation and outsourcing for 16 hospitals. We are creating a system that will
ultimately collect information about 60 million French citizens for use by authorized
clinicians in order to improve treatment and outcomes. In the Netherlands, Atos collects
four million high-quality images from mobile scanning units each year, transmitting them for
immediate analysis and secure storage.
In order to increase our market share and presence, we have strategic alliances with several
partners among which the following ones are of special relevance:
 EMC
 Partnership for long-term storage solutions
 Microsoft
