Q1. San-o naghigko ang baybay sa inyo lugar?

When was the sea became polluted in this area?

"Ambot ah, wala ko kabalo. Sa pagistar di guro sg mga tawo nga ari lang di sa baybay tungod sa mga
basura nga gin direct haboy amo na."

I have no idea. Maybe I think it started when the poeple living here throw their garbage directly in the
sea.

"Kay 7 years pa man lang ko de. Te amo na lang di ya ang naabtan namon. Pag-abot namon ya may
basura na."

I lived here for seven years. When we arrived here the place is already polluted.

Q2. May mga kaso na bala sang nagmasakit tungod sa basura?

Is there any case of illness caused by the garbages?

"Oo e, sa diri sa palibot may na dengue de sadto sa amon pero wala kami kabalo kon diin halin ang
dengue sa gwa okun sa diri mismo. Kag ang sa diri ya ho TB."

Of course, there is a case of dengue here in our neighborhood but we're not sure if the dengue virus was
from here or somewhere else. And in adjacent area there's a case of TB.

Q3. May ara na bala programa nga ginbuhat ang barangay para mahagan-hagan ang basura?

Is there any program from your barangay to lessen/minimize the garbages?

"Sa diri daw wala pa man, didto pa man lang na ya sa taas ya ang gina butangan basurahan bala nga
ginahakot, nagalibot lang. Diri ya wala."

Maybe there's none, in our neighboring place there's a garbage collector that roamed in that area but
here there's none.

Q4. Kung may ipatukod nga proyekto/pragrama ang barangay nga makabulig hagan-hagan sang basura
magakooperar bala kamo?

If the barangay will implement a project/program to help reduce the garbages, are you willing to
cooperate?

"Ay syempre e! Amo na ya ang ginapangita namon ya nga may magbutang basurahan nga hakuton di ya
sa babaw.Tapos may magbantay nga indi makahaboy ang kada balay sang basura diri sa baybay kay
syempre kami bala gyapon ang maapektohan. Mangin strikto kon tani tapos ang mga tawo diri daw wala
disiplina sa kaugalingon basta lang haboy."
Definitely! We have been waiting an action that our garbages will be collected. Then the peolpe should
be monitored because of course we were the ones who were affected. If possible the supervision must
be strict but the people lacks discipline in throwing there garbage.

Q5. Bilang isa ka pumoluyo diri, ano ang imo mabulig para mahagan-hagan ang sitwasyon?

As a part of this community, what can you do to lessen/minimize the problem?

"Kami mismo gasaway sa mga gahaboy basura kon pwede lang bala didto lang sa babaw kay may naga
kwa sang basura galing ang mga tawo de indi gid masaway mo, ikaw pa ang malain. Gina butang namon
sa plastik ang mga basura kag ginatampukan namon balas kay ang iban dira gid diretso sa baybay."

Even us, we encourage the peolple to throw their garbage on the proper place but most of them are
stubborn. We put our trashes on a plastic bag and burry it on sand unlike others who threw it directly on
the sea.

"Primero ko de nga istar indi pa masyado kay dutay pa lang ang tawo gadamo nga gadamo ang tawo
syempre gadamo man ang basura. Galibog man ulo ko ngaa amo na de ang plastada, damo na kontra ko
de kay syempre ang didto halin sa babaw gina dul-ong pa di, indi na ya pwede kay ang baybay indi gid na
ya ulaan basura. Kada myerkoles kag lunes may gakwa garbage. Galalain ko gani kay diri gina ula sa
tubangan balay. 15 years ago sang nagdamo ang basura diri sa baybayon."

The first time I lived here the garbage was not that worst, as the people densified of course the garbages
also increased. I was worried with this situation, poeple here still throw their trashes in front of my
house even there is collector every wednesday and monday. It was was 15 years ago since the garbage
worsen here in the sea.

"So syempre sa kabataan , number one ubo, nagahilanat kay indi madala sang lungs."

So of course for children, number one is caugh, fever because their lungs cant tolerate the pollution.

"May ara ged, number one basurahan, may basurahan ta da so ang gina himo naman sang mga dungol
gina kwa. Tapos ika duwa ang truck na bala, kasimple lang gid na e, panghakuton mo ang mga basura mo
butang sa sako, dal-on sa babaw kay may nagakwa man na ya nga ginasweldohan sang syudad."

There is, number one trash bin but it was stolen. Secondly, the garbage truck collector, all you have to
do is to bring all your trash on the station so that it will be collected.

Q4. Kung may ipatukod nga proyekto/pragrama ang barangay nga makabulig hagan-hagan sang basura
magakooperar bala kamo?

If the barangay will implement a project/program to help reduce the garbages, are you willing to
cooperate?

"Syempre willing gid ko ya magkooperar kay ari de sa front sang akon balay e."

Of course I am willing to cooperate because some throw their trashes in front of my house.

As a part of this community, what can you do to lessen/minimize the problem?

"Ginahambal ko na ina, kada balay magbutang sang sako tipunon ta kag ibutang sa babawkay indi man
na bug-at kag indi man na kapoy. Aton na higko e, inde ta na ya pagibutang sa baybay kay indi na ya
pwede. Pero waay gyapon may mahimo, patihon na nila in one week pagka dason ara naman, Pinoy gid
ya aton gawi. Amo na nga mga tawo bala nga kulang kaalam, kulang ihibalo ang ila ya pakahapos lang
bahala na da ya kon sin-o maigo, sin-o matam-an sang baho ang importante ang ila ya limpyo. Pero wala
sila kabalo ang pinaka number one nga higko ang ila nga kaugalingon, ang ila nga pamatasan."

I've said it that every house must put their trash on the sack then bring it on the station, it is very easy
and simple because it is our oen waste it is wrong to throw it on the sea. But the poeple here would
obey it for just one week then go back to their habit. Persons who were illeterate they chose to do the
easy way. They want their place to be clean but the number one filthiest thing are themselves.

"Halinan sina ang pag-ula sang basura sa Magsungay sang una, ti naga anod mo ti ang iban nga basura
kon sa diin naman na naghalalin na. Wala na de sang una sang 1980 sang 1972 kami di nagpuyo."

The garbages was from Barangay Magsungay, drifted to our place then in some other adjacent areas. In
1980 there was no pollution here. On 1972 we resided here.

Is there any case of illness caused by the garbages?

"Ubo kag hilanat, bata tigulang tungod sa basura. Na ubo kami kag nahapo duwa kami nga mag-asawa.
Kay ang tuburan sang OCSI gatubod sa baybay kag mag amihan ang baho sang kasag perte ka baho."

Cough and fever,both young and old all because of garbages. My spouse and I both have caugh and
asthma. Because the OCSI emits their waste directly on the sea and when the Northwind blows the faul
odor of the crab is very disturbing.

"Daw wala man tapos ang gapulopanilhig ang mga baye ga intra 4 P's pero kon malimpyohan nila ara
naman Day! Kay gina balik sang tubig. Ang truck nga gacollect waay man de kalab-ot kay wala di dalan."

Maybe there's none, the 4 P's beneficiaries once cleaned the place but the current brought back all the
trash. The garbage collector cant reach our place because there's no way.

magakooperar bala kamo?

If the barangay will implement a project/program to help reduce the garbages, are you willing to
cooperate?

"Oo e, magpaninlo e kon siling abi Day nga indi lang ko masakiton ako ya maayo ged ko ya galing gina
hapo ko Day"

Of course, I can help in cleaning if Im not sick Im good at it but I have asthma.

"Ang amon gusto ya nga matinloan man bala haw nga makwa ang basura bala."

We want our place to be cleaned and be free from garbages.

Kon pasaylohon kamo balay? (relocation)

"Te Day ari di amon pangabuhian mo bisan diri na lng kami Day. Maantos na lang kami mo, gapangisda
kag gapangasag kami ya, gapangsisi, gapangmunaw. Antos-antos lang kay kon bakas ka makakaon ka
man."

We find our living here, we can stay here. We can suffer our situation, because we get our food here as
long as we are working hard we can get through.
