Integration Paper: Ethics

Maicon E. Echano

Ethics tackles the distinctions between the right and the wrong and the good and the

evil. Right and good equals to God. Atheism contrasts to the half of this logic. Atheism,

according to a source, is the rejection of belief to deities, or, in other words, the position of

believing that there is none. If there is no god, what is the point of being good to the society? Or,

will they still be doing the right in all of their actions? Why or what for?

Atheists live thinking we live for ourselves, and only us. Some may still consider we

should go with the right path of our lives for our survival. Materials and non-materials are

provided by the creatures and the nature. Life begins and ends. Art is life. We only live once so

enjoy and live most out of it before it’s too late. Every phenomenon has a scientific basis. We

are responsible for everything we do and have; the successes, the failures and luck, and gods

or God has nothing to do with it.

I too had come to this point where I start to question the existence of God when I started

to become exposed to science. I even used to ask this to myself while when I’m inside churches

because it is the only time I have time for my faith, although I pray more than three times each

day. Every time I used to pray, I only do it with what is told to me from people and what I see

from our culture, but I know, I do it with love since from the start, because that is also what is

taught to me; to feel God. What if there is really no heaven or hell? What if someone just made

this religion up? How about perfections, why aren’t we perfect and they say that only God is?

But I taught, how about the testimonials about the existence of angels, saints, and Jesus and

the miracles of God and everything that happens and exists? Well if science explains how did

we exist, I taught, then why do we exist? Why can’t they be answered by science? Although
some are, I still consider those that just simply amazed I know not just me but also a lot of other

else. Bible has a lot of proof in it. It never became a habit for me to read bible but I know

everything’s in there. I started to be curious about atheism when I was in the middle of high

school, and after experiencing several challenges, realizations, and reflections, I graduated with

a sure faith that God really does exist

Each of us has our own point of view, but in ethics, or the moral philosophy, we should

follow certain concepts to achieve improvement to our moral behavior and specific character

standards, and these may help us to attain excellence. In this part of the discussion, I concluded

that we should have respect to each individual.

It is still God who has and only has the right to judge everything. As long as we observe

the rightness and the goodness of the actions and situations, we will come to the end of our

worlds with what we have been searching and existing for since day 1 of our living the true

happiness.
